Finally got my First Civic!
Do you want to know why I will never use another ball joint off eBay even if they are sold under a popular name brand? Many years ago, a similar thing happened to me. I was leaving base one day drove over a speed bump as slow as I could and the ball popped out of the joint and destroyed everything. Ever since then, I will only by ball joints from the Honda dealer or actual performance shops such as Summit Racing. Never trust buying any new parts off eBay, 98.9% fake imitation parts.
His lower ball joint was damaged in the process, will a 3lb hammer help get the lower ball joint out?
OP not only do you need a ball joint press but you need the Honda adapter kit for the ball joint press. Without it, you won't get the right purchase point on the ball joint to get it out of the knuckle.

yes, it will. you can either beat the stud, cut the stud and hit the joint, or slip a socket over the stud and hit the socket. same goes for installation, socket of the correct diameter on top of the joint, and a few good whacks. i always add a light coating of oil to the boot, just to be safe.

Its a shame what happened to the car, but its all the more reason to progress
I replaced the ball joints on my Sol with Senkie 555s. A hammer worked just fine to get the old ones out. Then a rented press kit from advanced Auto got the new ones in, no special adapter needed in my case.
Also as for bushings, in my experience going with poly bushings you can press in yourself is the most affordable option.

The adapter is only required for removal, the press works just find on it's own to install.
persaonally, i think they are cheesy. Cheap looking. You have 2 front open normal. Then 2 rear scissor lift. Hmmm.
end of the day, you do what makes you happy. Do what fit your taste.
Update-
Got the ball joints changed out and axle replaced. I did just use a 5lb sledge to get the BJs out. Took the boot off the new BJs to install. I personally used a rounded end hammer to tap it into position and then used the press to push it in uniformly. However, I didn't use the Honda adapter kit. Now the CV axle was hell. Took forever to get the axle nut off due to the nature of the damage. Axle just kept spinning and couldn't get a good grip on the hub. Finally wedged a crowbar between two of the wheel studs and alittle heat and it busted. Sunday now so going to have to wait on an alignment til tomorrow but she's back on the road. Going to the rim shop today to look at some new shoes. I'm thinking 15s or 14s.

So just now going through the drive thru I noticed a clunk coming from rear driver side when letting off the brakes. Also notice it feels like it's kinda biting when braking from same side. Haven't taken it off to inspect for I just got off work and it's dark. I'm thinking the rear shoes may need replaced. Prob going to replace the rear shoes and change the brake fluid.
Also, I'm having a really weird issue with my right turning signal. It will come on but blink oddly and changes speed when I start braking sometimes and even when I turn the wheel. There are no burnt bulbs anywhere so I don't really understand. Any ideas?
