Regarding Merc fuel advantage, wouldn't the Ferrari's be much much closer in qualy pace when they were both on fumes? Sounds fishy. Those numbers are way to big IMO.
Maybe I'm wrong but why was the Merc PU the only 1 that had no fuel saving issues in AD?
i somehow doubt merc has more joules per unit volume. it's combustion efficiency not rocket fuel making the difference*

Stoffel Vandoorne's dire handling problems in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix were caused by a piece of tape caught in his diffuser, the McLaren Formula 1 team discovered.
He finished a minute and three places behind team-mate Fernando Alonso in 12th.
When McLaren received the car back from parc ferme a section of black tape - of a type not used by the team itself - was lodged in the diffuser. At the end of the race there was a 20cm piece still stuck to the left hand diffuser fence.

I think he'll pass SCHUMACHER's win record. Merc's current advantage is bigger than any other and Bottas can't hang with HAM like ROS could. Perhaps in year 2, BOT will step up his game a bit.
It will be interesting to see if next year the Merc advantage is decreased at all with the new fuel regulations. I don't think the fuel is a large part of the equation but I don't think it is zero either. I think the combustion efficiency and the ability to harvest moar E make up a larger part of the Merc advantage.
I don't think BOT problem is speed. He's not ROS, but I don't think he is far off. His problem is consistency. You never know which BOT is gonna show up. RIC in dat Merc in 2019 could be fun
