1990 civic wago
Hello, just recently picked a 1990 blue civic wago. Paid $300 running and driving just had a dead battery so $58 dollars later I've got a DD. The interior was good but definitely needed a cleaning. 300k on the meter and it's and auto 2wd b15b2 that leaks a decent amount. Trans fluid needs to be changed so that's on the to do list tomorrow. Recently got new tires for it as well as using a set of konings I got with my ek coupe. Trans may be going out gonna flush the fluid and see if that helps any, vibrates pretty bad in reverse and shifts Hard-ish when warmwas curious to know if I could match up a d16 auto trans to a d15 motor and if so what it takes would I need an Ecu swap or what. Any help would be great not sure what I'm gonna do with it want to put most my money in my ek coupe maybe turbo
That was a steal, looks good.
I paid that for a sedan with a rod knock and rust around the wheels -also dead battery.
Im not 100% on 300k miles auto trans fluid changes. It's entirely possible it's never been changed before. Google it and you'll get mostly people who have never done it telling you not to do it so that's useless. From experience, my Mirage was no worse @ 180k, but it's your call. If its a little low, top it off with Lucas stop-slip. It'll either get better or it won't.
As far as trans interchange, D-series transmissions are interchangeable but not with any other engine series (B, F/H, etc). There are adapter plates, they cost about as much as a decent used transmission. I think the D17 trans is different too, but nobody likes them for whatever reason.
edit: Ecu goes with engine in this case, you may have to swap the plug on top of the transmission, I'm not sure.
Congrats on the purchase.

That’s a steal. I sold my wagon a few years ago with a slipping trans for $800 or so. Did a fluid change and just couldn’t get it to stop slipping after that (it may have been the first time it was changed to be honest) but at the time I couldn’t find another RT trans and even if I did I didn’t have the space for it so i let it go. Still miss that car. Good luck with your new DD
