The Official Formula 1 2017 Season Thread
just saw my first F1 style rain light / ERS light on a street car. it was on a . . . (can you guess)?
WRX. of course it was on a WRX

I was gonna guess FR-S / BRZ
I have seen them on a 370Z, because its got that trailer hitch / light socket looking spot at the bottom of the rear bumper cover

- 1.6 Litre, V6 Turbo Hybrid
- 3000rpm higher engine running speed range to improve the sound
- Prescriptive internal design parameters to restrict development costs and discourage extreme designs and running conditions
- Removal of the MGUH
- More powerful MGUK with focus on manual driver deployment in race together with option to save up energy over several laps to give a driver controlled tactical element to racing
- Single turbo with dimensional constraints and weight limits
- Standard energy store and control electronics
- High Level of external prescriptive design to give ‘Plug-And-Play’ engine/chassis/transmission swap capability
- Intention to investigate tighter fuel regulations and limits on number of fuels used
I like.
I thought the previous system of KERS was cool... Driver had a button he could use for 6 seconds per lap. Not sure about the ability to store it up for several laps. Hopefully the battery tops off quick enough to not get silly with "Oh, _____ has been in hyper mode for the last 9 laps"
MGU-H... won't be sad to see it go. Can't really see that tech ever making it to a street car anyway.

Not so sure of that. A lot of Merc's advantage is MGU-H related and with the deployment strategies. Those 2 items will go out the window with these regs.
Don't forget Brawn wants parity and he was at Merc for the development of their PU. If anyone knows where they have an advantage it would be him. I think the MGU-H advantage is also why Merc were pushing so hard to keep it for 2021 and beyond.
