Sirius XM gonna carry all F1 races starting this weekend using the BBC Radio 5 feed. I've got it in my truck so that is cool. I wonder how how good the commentary is. I imagine it has to be pretty good.

Well they probably reair them but...for someone who works a rotating schedule and is sometimes driving home at 4AM it is nice. Been several times I've been driving home in the middle of a race.

nah it's clear there's a significant faction of viewers that cannot stand his voice. it's true for any announcer but he's got a pretty bad case of the shouties.

i used to listen to bbc 5live back when he was commentating with ant davidson and he was hilarious back then and was making a bunch of internet references (calling KOB Leroy Jenkins when he was passing everyone at Suzuka) but i thought he was too unprofessional to make it to the big leagues. i probably tolerate him better because of his early work though

Legard was way too uninformed as BBC lead commentator and had too much generic language to fill air time and sounded like he ate a box of rocks for dinner the night before (reminded me of Brick Top from ******). Brundle couldn't add much color when he was lead commentator but he did an admirable job.

 

Joe Buck comes to mind. CAN. NOT. STAND.

I don't mind Crofty or his voice at all. I just wasn't used to all the shouty. Another race or 2 and I'll be good with it.

What they need to do is find a way to reanimate Murray Walker and James Hunt.

 

I don't like Crofty. Or Brundle.

Channel 4 has my favorite broadcast team.

Yeah that's interesting. I'd bet there is performance clause in there just like Seb had. So if 2019 Honda power sucks ***** he'll go to greener pastures. It's a smart/shrewd move. If the Honda PU improves (how can it not be at least 2nd best next year with Fred switching to Renault PU) RB and Max will have it's works engine deal.

I wonder what this season wood be like if he were still in that Merc. I think HAM wood be leading the WDC but I think VET (and also ROS) wood be closer because ROS wood have taken moar points off HAM

 

an interesting thought experiment. ROS really was a one and done driver and i respect him for admitting it. i'd imagine you're right even though his motivation might have waned. (for example i get the impression RAI is just collecting a paycheck and VET is all too happy to have him cruising around behind. monaco native ROS doesn't need the money apparently.)

just having continuity with the engineers/car development would have been worth a bag of points that BOT wouldn't have ever hauled in.
