I will be selling these turbos but first can someone help me price them right and identify them correctly? They were in my Porsche but from speaking to the tuner they are very good quality T04 turbos. Some of the specs he told me about were that these were either T04E50 or T04E54 Trim compressor wheels that will do 50+ lbs of flow. Please chime in and advise whats a good asking price. Thx
No one can do this for you. You must see about any serial numbers or plates on the units. (These seem to have some sort of electronic actuator on them, but they look like some aftermarket modified units. You have T3 5 bolt "Ford-Style" Turbine housing.
You must do the following.
Measure (in millimeters). All of the following in the diagram below, and compare them to compressor/turbine flow charts that are available online.
Here is the calculation of "TRIM" this will work once you have the other numbers
Make sure that the turbochargers are in good condition to sell, or let the potential buyers know that there are issues with them. Anything requiring an internal rebuild, that alone can be $250-$400 depending upon the damage. Any wheels or housings damaged, add at least $80-$200 to that as well. At this point, you might as well get a new unit.
If you're going to sell them, please create a second ad on the Forced Induction Marketplace, and not do that here.
Perfect!! Thanks for the quick response. I will take measurements and go from there. These have no electronics and barely have 1K miles on them. The sump tank will be removed when I sell them. Much thanks for the guidance.
Oh because they were in a Porsche they had to use small aux tanks for the oil drain and then pump the oil back up to the pan. Man, the things they go through to keep that engine back behind that rear axle... It's like they have a death grip on that layout and refuse to just let superior designs shine. Give a Cayman the attention the 911 gets and I'll bet it would trounce a 911..
