The Official Formula 1 2017 Season Thread
I think that start is a racing incident. VET chop would have been ok if RAI didn't get the start of his life.
Amused some of the McLaren fans on F1T are blaming Honda for Fred being crashed into at the start lol. WTF. The Honda PU sucks right now, but not as bad as ALO luck.

I wonder if the conditions played a part in the Merc performance

“Even before the first safety car, we could see were losing an awful lot of oil pressure in the gearbox," Horner told Sky Sports F1. "So we were thinking, ‘crikey, this is only going to go to half-distance'.
“So Daniel had instructions to start managing that, and he had to sacrifice laptime from doing that. He did that incredibly well, and managed to nurse the car home for almost another hour and a half.”
Asked whether Ricciardo could have won the race if not for the gearbox problem, Horner said: “We certainly could have been closer and put a bit more pressure on, but I think it’s very different conditions today - with the rain, the rubber being gone, it’s cooler than Friday, they were all factors.

I remember back in 2010 when Fred juan Singapore against Seb. I thought he locked it up that year, especially after Korea. We know how that turned out [img]petrovmeme.jpg[img]
I juander if this year will be the same. The obvious pick is now HAM, who is in a seriously fast car and driving impeccably. Can Seb bring him back? With the Bull's in the mix, that lead can get cut down quickly.
Either way this was a huge blow to Ferrari's chances. They should've owned this race.

As Esty said, short of a HAM brain fade(possible but seems less likely than in past years) or mechanical gremlins (even less likely) it's over. VET is also in a bit of trouble as far as parts go and Ferrari doesn't have the pace to beat Merc multiple races in a row.
Honestly with the way this season has gone HAM/Merc have zero pressure on them and VET/Ferrari cannot make another mistake. Next several tracks should favor HAM/Merc. Wonder if HAM will string a few more wins together and then shift his focus to trying to help BOT pass VET in the standings.

You forgot I was local.
Couldn't have been, the only time I've rolled DOHC it was a quad cam 4.6L
But glad it inspired you to think of me cause I still do love the Civics.
Still rolling the 2000 EX with the Edelbrock turbo kit I picked up in 2013 from Marauder. Did just nuke the tranny so might finally go DOHC haha.
I was the happiest dude ever this morning. My wife told me at 4:45am that her contractions started and Vettel wiped himself out AND the two other cars in front of Hammy and Ricki. Feel bad for Kimi though.

Cool article about aerodynamics on an IndyCar. Would be interesting to see a similar article on F1 drivers about the different eras like the change from 2008 to 2009 rules, and the change from 2016 to 2017.
