The Project One beast is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine coupled with hybrid technology offering a combined output exceeding 1,000 horsepower!
Underneath its impressive skin and stunning aggressive robe, the Project One also features an all-wheel-drive transmission with an electrified front axle enabling a top speed estimated to surpass 350 km/h.
For a zero emission trip, drivers are limited to a range of 26 kilometers thanks to a battery pack using F1-derived lithium-ion cell technology. We doubt however that exclusive owners of the Project One would be traveling in electric silence, unless there not looking at their fuel gauge.
To date, 275 people have signed on to buy the Project One, but patience is warranted as Mercedes-AMG will reportedly make only one car per day and production is scheduled to commence late next year.
The automotive company's iconic Chiron, whose 8-litre quad-turbocharged 16 cyclinder power unit develops a cool 1,479 bhp, was entrusted to the Colombian racer to demonstrate just how fast it is.
Seven-time Grand Prix winner Montoya beat the world record for the fastest car to accelerate from nought to 400km/h and then back to nought again.
The time was 41.96 seconds, which on the surface may appear a bit underwhelming. The first stage acceleration segment took 32.6 seconds and 2.6km. But it only took 9.3 seconds and 491 meters for Montoya to grind to a halt.
well with the f1 car, ferrari did it first, right?
so i guess the other whawn
Yeah but I think the Merc is done better and sounds like it could be used daily if you were so inclined. It reminds me of the McLaren F1 when it came out with how user friendly it is. It also probably has more in common with the F1 PU than the Ferrari did/does. It pains me to say it but Merc nailed it.
I know this won't happen but Kubica to Torro Roso could be interesting. Dick around in that car for a year and when Max/Danny/both leave he might be able to slide into an RB seat. With Sainz leaving RB they don't have anyone in the pipeline that I know of other than Gasly.
Again, I know it won't happen but it seems like an interesting option to me.
