What that article doesn't tell you is the stewards were asked for a reason Nico didn't get a penalty for pushing/hitting GRO while KMAG got 1 for something similar was because the GRO incident happened turned 1 of lap 1 and the stewards would be "too busy" if they looked at everything that happened at turn 1 at the start of a race. That's a pretty **** poor argument if you ask me.
T1 Lap1 between Hulk and Gro was typical of 20 cars going at the same time to the same spot. I saw no issue there, and unless you RoGro ala Spa 2012, most contact will be forgiven.
KMag pushing Hulk out of T2 later in the race should've been reviewed and penalized. They penalized Britney for doing essentially that last year, when he would just go more straight and then turn leaving the guy outside SOL and off the track. KMag was a little less obvious but same result; squeezed him off track. Thought you always had to leave a car's width when they were side by side (or at least far enough alongside).
STR testing lower t-wing that is generating lift, or downwash.
Weird.
Este hit me with some theory as to how dis works.

Consistently inconsistent. This is F1.
People rarely leave a car's width, people would be incapable of defending if they always did.

I think in the T1 incident Hulk was way too optimistic and was trying to make up all of his grid pos penalties in 1 turn. I have no prob with the KMAG penalty nor do his actions really bother me considering T1. If the FIA wants to have "safety first" It shouldn't matter if it's T1 lap 1 or T12 lap 70. To me saying it's T1 let it go is opening the door for what is arguably the most dangerous part of a race. Just what we need, more T1 shenanigans.
McLaren are said to be optimistic a Renault deal can be done - and some senior figures also believe it is close. However, there are others who suspect that McLaren's Renault option will go the way of Mercedes and Ferrari - why, they argue, would the French manufacturer give engines to another team besides Red Bull who might beat them?
If that happens, McLaren would be stuck with Honda.
McLaren is gonna go to Renault and get engine that are barely better, and suddenly less reliable, compared to what they have now and take the scraps after the works team and RB? Really. I love the out he gives himself too about well Renault may not want McLaren so then they just stay with Honda. Again, at this point McLaren would be stupid to leave Honda. Part of this is their fault. If they hadn't forced Honda to only supply them, development could have come at a faster rate.
To me is a garbage/fanciful article. Part of me does hope McLaren goes to Renault. I suspect with the full Spec 3/4 whatever you want to call it update later this year Honda will be at similar power levels to Renault once the mapping is optimized.
Honestly, aero **** is hard AF. What little I know about aerodynamics makes me shake my head in disbelief how good the teams are at aero development. But even the best (RBR) get it wrong.

ehhhh not true. If they're up along side you cant just push them off. If they're poking a nose, you cut them off.
Fred passed Carlito on the outside of T2. It was a great pass because A) Fred was later on the brakes and had grip around the outside and B) b/c Carlito didn't punt him out. Tough can be fair. KMag wasn't fair on the move with Hulk.

Are you confuse? Thinking of another incident? Cause ain't no how you talking about T1 Lap 1 with Hulk v RoGro. Allow me to esplain.
1) Hulk drafts teammate. Hulk sees HUGE ******* GAP to his left (our right).
2) Hulk enter's said gap cause he not stoopid. Note: RoGro is behind Hulk at this point (Haas to his left)
3) RoGro hits the binders later and locks up; is now ahead of Hulk on outside line. ie: Hulk didn't have "crazy brakes" into T1. If anything Gro did. Also Hulk in sandwich.
4) Hulk begins understeer into RoGro. He has no option but to keep the wheel turned and hope RoGro see's him and gives him space.
5) Just after Hulk and RoGro touch.
In sum, Hulk didn't do anything wrong into T1. It just happens when you have so many cars into T1 at the same time.
So bottom line is Hulk understeers and hits Gro and it's fine. The very next corner Mad Max understeers and hits someone and gets a 10 sec penalty. Are the offenses exactly the same, no, but both drivers made errors that caused a collision. So T1 it's ok but T2 it isn't. That's what bugs me, but as you said FIA and consistency will never go together.
Hoping someone sees you so you can complete the pass/maintain the position is not a successful strategy. KMag had a great view of the whole episode, I wish I could see his in car
-edit. I just found a video of it and I really want to see KMag's in car now. In the stills you can't see this and I didn't notice it live but it looks like Hulk did get hard on the brakes, part way through braking because the FI in front of him suddenly slows. You can see the front end wash away, prolly because of braking and losing aero.
-2nd edit I honestly don't give a **** 1 way or the other about either incident. I'm more bothered by the stewards cavalier attitude toward T1 lap 1 (which was the point of my OP).
i wish the drivers had the same car indicators that codemasters put in the F1 games. it could be in the driver helmet above their field of view showing where adjacent/behind cars are. i guess it's like a virtual side/rear view mirror but only shows how close and which side cars are on, not the actual cars

I was wondering if the FIA gets the shield concept to work would they develop a heads up display with rear cameras and ditch side mirrors completely but your idea seems like it would be easier/simpler to pull off.
