700 sq ft. 1/10 acre. 1.5 car garage. 2 BR/1BA. Full basement, not finished. Built in the 50's, recently updated, if not fully remodeled.

I'm in the same boat. I want to build an L shaped garage 35x35 on the longest sides, should be able to go 2x2 with cars and want a lift. I have money saved up but I still am fearful of what it's going to cost lol.

 

start searching craigslist for used Mohawks.

 

Any reason I should consider something moar than 7k lb lift? I can't see me needing moar but figure might as well ask.

I'm looking at adding on next to my existing 2 car. House is 36' long along that wall and I could legally go to just over 18' wide based on square footage limitations... but I don't want the house to look like it is more than a 3 car garage from the front so I'll probably go a little narrower.

Going 2 post for the lift I assume? How tall are you thinking for ceilings? I saw 12' as a minimum spec on the Rotary site but didn't look at bendpak and others. I want to pick up a used lift so I probably should leave some wiggle room.

 

Yeah 2 post. I'm actually planning on having a loft over the workshop with a view out into the bays. It's going to be a garage/workshop/man cave/hangout area all in 1. The way my house/lot are set up I don't have room to attach it so it will be detached in backyard but if I can pull it off how I see it in my mind it will be nice. House currently has an oversized 2 car garage.
