Now some crazy rumors going around. McHonda to become McAlfa (has happened b4) and maybe Williams Mercedes to become Williams Honda?
I can maybe buy the first 1 (if it's on the discount rack in the back corner of the store) but I have trouble believing Williams wood go to Honda. I did see some interesting financial points about a Williams move. If Honda continued to pay the roughly 100 million they give to McLaren right now along with free PUs to Williams and Williams finished 9th or 10th they would end up with more than 80 million a year compared to what they get if they manage to finish 5th each year. The biggest drawback to the Williams Honda wood be the sponsor hit but if Honda hangs around until the new engine regs and the FIA makes them better/easier/less complicated Williams could be sitting in the catbird seat come 2021 when Honda has a chance to develop a moar conventional PU.
Again, I don't really believe it yet, but I can see how if you look at it just right it might make a bit of sense.

Nick Fry: Alonso turned down our offer in 2009
damn
In 2008 Brawn was intent on turning Honda into a force in Formula 1 and Alonso was top of his shopping list.
During the Belgian Grand Prix, that year, it was clear that Honda had made an offer for Alonso’s services, Brawn said at the time, “We’re just waiting [on Fernando]. My view is that he’s the best at the moment and we’re happy to wait and hope that he makes a positive decision for us.”
“I think he’s the best driver in F1 because of his balance of experience and ability. There are three very quick drivers who have established themselves so far in F1. There’s Lewis Hamilton, there’s Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando.”“If you look at those three for a team in our position, where we have a strong rebuilding process going on, then we need a driver with strong development capacity, experience and absolute speed. Fernando has all of those things,” added Brawn.

I remember that. Yep - he could have been the '09 champ - and who knows where after that had he stayed on w/Mercedes. Schumacher probably never would have come out of retirement - and who knows if he'd ever have gone on that ski trip!
of course, you gotta remember - Honda was TERRIBLE back then. Not much has changed...Alonso should have taken advice from W.
Don't forget Alonso had an offer for Red Bull for 2008.

So basically Fred should make his decision and then do the opposite. Guy has made the worst choices since the first McLaren debacle.
Maybe it's karma hitting him for the events of 2007. Ron got his too. Fred's comeuppance has been worse than Ron's tho due to crashgate lol

this is also a way to make a lot of money in the stock market: do the opposite of whatever i do. here's some thoughts i've had about investing in the past. granted these are cherry picked, and i am probably more right than wrong, but when i'm wrong, i'm really wrong:
apple with the original iphone?
nobody will ever want a device without a keyboard
google?
nobody clicks on web page ads. there's no way you can generate significant revenue with this business model.
prius?
it's just a honda insight with inferior tech. why would anybody buy it?
amazon?
shareholders will force Bezos to turn a profit at some point, he can't keep just reinvesting revenue and keep taking over commerce completely.
nvidia?
intel integrated graphics will kill the GPU

I know those feels... I paper traded those stocks like a ****, but then never pulled the trigger because they had already peaked... that was like 10 years ago. amazon is up 1500% since then. I made the safer play and put my money in a house in 2006. FTMFL
i would still still hold individual stocks if they are available at a discount through employer or granted as incentives.

it's too late now but i thought the apple iwatch was going to do better. it turns out it's not as useful and game changing as it was made out to be at the announcement. even though it isn't a runaway success like the ipod/iphone, it dominates the market it is in, and did so the same way as the ipod/iphone: show up late, do it better, charge more for a premium product.
i see them everywhere now, even on people bagging groceries and running cash registers.
edit - oh i think tesla is going to miss the price and delivery date of the model 3 by a wide margin. or they will make it and quality and reliability will be ****. they'll trickle out and take years to deliver the cars that have been preordered, and people will back out when they realize they have to wait or see the issues with the car.
