94 EG8 k20a2 100% internally stock, I'll list the things I feel are relevant in suggesting a battery, here's the things that it will need to power to start: walbro 450/K-pro/OEM starter. As far as I know once the car is running the ALT takes all the duty off the battery. I do plan to undo the terminals after parking it, the components listed above are the only things I can think that would draw before it's running. That being said the battery is in the trunk, i'd like to stay under 10lbs. I do't know the minimum CCA I would need or "CELL" I see 4-16 cell, most of the 4's are too weak afaik. I'm looking at antigravity units, but am open to other's smaller names may be hard to get in Canada however.
Bump? opinion thread, what battery are YOU running, and how light is it? I can't stand the big, bulky OEM one u have. battery will be in the trunk. Kinda HAS TO be a traditional oem post style.
I'm currently using a Ballistic Evo2 12 cell battery.
i have an inline 6cylinder 3.2L and dailyed the car with that same ballistic battery. when the temperatures got below 38 degrees (f) it would often not turn the car over till the second try. below 32 degrees (f) i would just connect to the spare full size battery i kept in the car to jump it. the battery exceeded my expectations. i left it exposed to cold climate over winter and killed the battery; research how to care for lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFep04). i now run the 16 cell for a little added cranking amps. if my car rarely if never saw below 32 degrees (f) i would have gotten the same 12 cell one again as it always started my car no problem during most of the year. i mounted mine in my passenger side speaker location to keep all wires short and hidden as well as possible(this is different car then honda). i mention the location as these things are tiny and easy to locate to many places and just surround it with some nice low density close celled foam.
if you enjoy diy project you can easily make one of these batteries with some 26650 lifepo4 cells; please research this as it has been over 8 years since i last did.
