True. I am a long time b series lover, love them to death, more specifically B18C & B18C1.....But k series is in an entirely different league. I have had different variations and my old B18C1 was boosted in my hatch and it was very fun and fast but I blew that motor up years ago. A simple k20 with just bolt ons and tune would destroy my old turbo gsr setup and would be a million times more reliable. After endless thinking/comparing/researching (more importantly saving lol)l I finally made up my mind last year to go K. K motors are so different compared to B and D series setups, had to research and learn about K's a lot. My new setup is almost finished, should be done this week and tuned next week, going to be a monster, should run 11s on a stock block, fully built head. I will start a thread to showcase it and my car. Not gonna lie though, to go k series and do it right it is very expensive, very very expensive. The motors and trans are cheap, cheaper than b series but its everything else that is insanely expensive. I cut no corners going K, I prefer overbuilding........all said and done I am around $14-15K in, but it will be faster than pretty much any car on the road, exotics included. I highly recommend going K, you wont regret it, and you def wont go back to b series after, that's for sure.
edit: i was in the same dilemma as you, even rebuilt my jdm gsr lsd trans with full Syncrotech carbon gears and the whole nine in prep. of boosting the motor, but scraped the turbo plans to go K, wish I would have just gone K to be begin with, would have saved a bunch of money.
This paragraph makes me want to go K so bad, but than I want to go H as well since it isnt so expensive!

Go K, dont look back; seriously and do it right, Worth every penny. Honestly, i spent in total including dyno tune and everything around $8-9k(has way more in parts, im sponsored). The car has a ton of baller parts, plus I upgrade all the bushing and everything suspension wise to handle the new found power and torque. I could have done it for wayyyy cheaper if I wanted, but I wanted to go all out cuz the car is my baby, had it 11 years so far and will never get rid of it.

~9k to go deep into the 11s n/a on a very very reliable simple setup, while being street-able? I'd say that is very good. Could have done it for way cheaper but I like nice things, k tuned billet race spec shifter box, race spec cables, custom fab'd 3,5" intake with easy detachable second piece with 4" vibrant v-stack for track duty, k tuned everything, and the list goes on and on and on......plus you spent thousands on mad tyte JDM parts that are pointless lol ....dif strokes for dif folks, all in good fun bro lol
edit: I will start a build thread this week so everyone can see the car and see i am not blowing smoke lol. Just have to finish up my rear bumper after work today. I Just half cut the bumper yesterday and removed my rusted old rear bumper support. Gonna put slots on the corners of the bumper reminiscent of the old top fuel civic ek.

It's not that I don't believe you but you don't have anything to back up your claims. Dyno numbers don't mean much to me if your car can't produce your claims. I'm by no means a drag racer being as how I've never done it. I rebuilt every aspect of this motor and have 1/3 of the money you do in the motor. It'll last just as long if not longer and make me just as happy as you are with yours. It's apples and oranges here.

$9k on a K series to only run 11's is not brag worthy at all. Actually, it directly points out what is wrong with the Honda world. Too many of these Honda tuners and Honda enthusiasts think they are turning the world upside down by bragging on their stuff that they spent a fortune on and acting like they are cooler than the next. You could have bought a stock K24A2 and put a set of valve springs and cams in it, decent header, and a tune and went 11's all day long. That would have been a lot less than $9k and would have been cooler to brag about then saying you have a fortune in it to only go 11's or whatever. There was a track proven 9 second all motor K engine up for sale not long ago for less than $9k, just for reference. Name dropping doesn't get you any cool points either and bragging that you have race spec this and that follows right in there too. I have a full OEM 2.4 that makes enough power and torque to go 11's all day and with everything being OEM I'd say it is about as reliable as you can get since Honda designs these parts to last hundreds of thousands of miles. I have very little in the entire engine, thousands less than $9k or whatever the number is. But, good luck, if you don't have a built transmission you will be right in there with majority of the other K series guys, so start saving for another trans or a nice gear set if you plan on running it often at the track. Then come back to us and brag how you have $8k or more in a trans for a car that is really reliable and runs deep 11's.

I probably should have been more specific. I didn't spend "$9,000 to go K series," I spent a lot less. I spent around $9K on my whole setup including my dyno session. I changed various aspects of the car while going K to handle the added power and torque; ie all new bushing throughout the suspension, k tuned traction bar, slicks & skinnies and various other things. Also when going K series there are a ton of lil things that add up along the way, everything on the motor is new, coil pack, all arp new bolts, literally everything, no corners were cut, I always overbuild. My car is a street car whos main purpose is racing. I drive it 2 hours from NYC to Racewaypark and Atco in NJ; Race the car all day then drive it home, so i need the car to be completely solid and reliable, hence why i overbuild everything. You clearly didn't read my posts and/or read them out of context. I am in no way "bragging" about neither my car nor setup. All i was doing was explaining why I feel going K series is worth the steep initial price tag and etc. I didn't reinvent the wheel nor think I did lol, my setup is tried and true, far from revolutionary. My setup is simple: 07 k24a2 Longblock (i paid $700), 02 rsx type s trans $1,500 rebuilt with LSD, prayoonto stage 3 cams, supertech 100lb springs & retainers, ferrea flat top valves valves, rbc im, 3.5" intake, plm r crew header 3" exhaust no cat no res to 3" vibrant muffler(all vbands) and etc etc etc and pretty much every k-tuned part. The list of parts is insane, endless. I paid way less for a lot of parts because I am sponsored and have friends in the industry so I got stuff heavily discounted: example I paid $600 for the cams brand new in the box. And trust me I know the K trans are garbage, the Achilles heel of K's, the trans are made out of crystal lol.
Tragedy struck when when a van ran into me. He sustained little damage. I've decided to restore this back to 96-98 spec.
In tearing this down further, I've found **** parts were used to do the 99-00 conversion. All BNIB OEM parts have been ordered from AutoFair Honda. Some jdm goodies have been ordered from ICB.
