Bdubs related F1 news. Manager at this location looks an awful lot like Ross Brawn... I should ask him about F1 and see if it is him.

is having too much smog to see track conditions considered a bad weather race?

Maybe smog adds density to air which increases down force

But if it does then it would also increase drag and decrease oxygen available in a given volume. Or course with a non-atmospheric engine just crank up zee boost!

I'm actually going out to Long Beach this weekend for the Grand Prix, then will head back to Vegas Sunday night. Will probably be too tired to watch the race until Monday so my wait will be longer than yours.

I'm pretty sure they run the most restrictive air filters in China due to the particulates in the smog. Dem pumping losses.

Pretty sure Krumme is. Not sure about Jackson and I highly doubt Hoegner is.

it has come to light that most of honda's engine development over winter was done on a single cylinder test bench. they thought they were caught up to mercs '16 performance levels.

But it was too late that we noticed that - at Christmas.
and then things got worse.

it wasn't until mclaren attached the gearbox / driveshaft and put it in the car that the resonance issues were discovered.

What I heard was the single cylinder was fine but when they increased to multiple cylinders issues with exhaust/backpressure interfering with the prechamber ignition arose. They are treating the V6 like 2 separate 3 cylinder engines since each cylinder bank has it's own intake plenum, exhaust, and turbine entrance. Honda was not expecting any exhaust issues because in the past with TC their experience was anything under 4 cylinders you do not need to worry about interferrence. This to me confirms they are using an unconventional firing order and may even be using a 120 degree firing interval.
