Default What do you use now for your antenna reception?

So I've owned my DA since 1993 and replaced the antenna mast 5 times every three to four years due to wear and tear. I would absolutely change it out the 6th time, but now the gears on the power motor is wearing out. I just love the OG look but now I am forced to go alternative. They don't stock those OEM power antennas at the dealer anymore too. I would most likely go with an internal antenna as I hate having a stubby one stick out. What do you guys use. Show me some pics if you can. Thanks

I wished the obd2b integra's had internal antenna's. Kinda glad the 99-00 civics do.

So where did you install your internal antenna? What kind is it?

I believe it was a Kenwood series antennae (model & part number escape me, sorry). It's installed just behind the rear view mirror on the window itself. I get HD radio quite clear in all rain/sun conditions. It was routed behind the a-piller cover and part of the roof cover (DC Integra Chassis).

Ummm.. What? The OEM location is right on top of the A-pillar by the roof. They're just retractable is all. No Integra had an internal antennae.

I just broke the antenna post on my DA9 because I was stupid. It's an RS, so no power antenna. I'm painting the car soon and thinking about shaving the antenna hole. I'd be very interested in more details about an internal antenna. I didn't know you could do such a thing.

This sounds fantastic. Any other details you could provide? Pics maybe?

I never really took photos of that. I'll need to get back to the car in April when I have more time. I admit, I did not install it myself. Wiring /Stereo is a bit above my pay-grade.
I was fortunate enough to have a few talented friends that knew exactly what to do.

I'll see what I can do about some photos for you as soon as I can.

99-00 civics have it on the rear windshield, done. No need to bondo fill any antenna holes.

Electric antennas are just heavy. I took mine out and installed a plain antenna. Great reception, way better than "low profile" amplified antennas.

Huh? Civic are located on the top pillar here, mate:

You sure you're not thinking of another chassis, tony_2018?

My personal EM1 my wife bought in '00 from the dealership. We were headed out to tune.. Notice location of OEM antennae still in upper A-pillar, closer to the sun-roof.

The car as he sits (when clean) today:

Here's an idea of the photo of my windscreen mounted antennae for my Integra. But it's a Kenwood unit.

Thanks guys for the input and the pics. So I dissected the original power antenna and noticed that one of the gears are wearing out. (Its the gear that contacts the Mast.) No wonder my brand new mast wasn't catching. So off to the junkyard I went and found a 1999 integra with the gears still in great condition. I wasn't sure if the 1999 gear would be the same as my 1991. The yard changed their policy that you can't bring your old part to compare. Luckily, they matched perfectly!! The "guts" of the newer tegs are the same as the older models. Installed it and it worked like brand spanking new! I actually took snatched another gear from a 1997 teg and in great condition. I will save that one the next time the gear I installed will give out which I predict will be 10 years or so.

Fixed aftermarket antennas are the most affordable options. Replacement kits/masts are equally cheaper too.
