Nice. I've thought about a color change to black; however, my OCD will screw with me until i gut the car. I'd need to send a completely empty shell to the painter, including all body parts so that I have have that OEMish overspray on panels and what not. At this point...no. HAHAHA.

I'm more of a journey than destination guy so I'd love to do a full restore but then I'd end up bored with it and sell it

Well...in news other than whatever is going on directly above this, the engine in the Civic took a dump. Knockity knock clatter mcclatter is not a noise i'm a fan of. I think this is the fuel that the fire needed to finish the V6 swap.

UPDATE...looks like that SPAM post was deleted.

This just in, we believe we have found another victim of rod knock in the west coast. The cause could be low oil pressure but we have not verified that, we have reporter Cobb at the scene. Cobb can you give us more details my nikka?

Haven't honestly ripped into it. I'm convincing myself that the repair is not cost effective, so that I can just yank the motor and get to work on the V6. Getting the mounts done and engine bay paint touchups done, get the shifter assembly and cables in, all that stuff is honestly higher priority than working on the D16Y8 in there. Any money and time spent on the D16 could have gone to the J36. Need to get the block and crank to the machine shop, trans to Joel, and parts offered from Honda.

Agreed. I don't think I'd be selling this one. Don't want to do the same work twice hahaha.

You know thats the curse of california, LOL. Feels like we are separated by states with all this traffic. Have you got any closer to sorting the issue?

Yup, I parked the car, and am getting ready to pull the motor and throw it away so that I have incentive to build the V6. I'm borrowing a car from my landlord so that I don't need to rush out and spend a ton of money on a daily right now. I need to get this stupid motor built.

Are you still in a position to look at a transmission? I might be bringing you the CLS6MT soon so that I can check that off the list.

Head might be worth it, transmission probably needs to be gone through. I really don't care about the money and the hassle of selling it. If someone wants to come help me pull it out, they can have it all.

Well now, that's one cool landlord.

Yessir I am. Let's geturrr done

Traded a old trunk I didn't want or need for this little gem. It'll come in handy for some RR.

Sedan mirrors are very hard to source, I keep missing every opportunity to purchase spoon mirrors with OE block offs. For now I've given up hunt on those and have decided to go with these. I plan to customize them.

Lastly, with the help of a good friend, I did a thing and got a thing. Caps for my wheels.

Agreed, at this point they are more like adopted family, so that helps. This is kind of the spare car, so...I'm not gonna complain. I think this weekend I'm gonna prep the stock motor for removal, so that I can start cleaning and prepping. About to order bearings, pistons, and rings.

I'll let you know on the trans, because I'd like to get it in your hands as soon as I have time to bring it down. You'll have all the time you need, but the faster you have it, the closer I feel I'm getting.

Nice sammich!!!

Turns out my front brakes still have some life, will have to return the set I ordered from Rock-auto. I did replace the axles and will be replacing the wheel bearings and ball joints as the bearings were making the noise. The passenger side lower ball joint took a dump to, (partially because of reinstallation) had to get towed a mile home Saturday night. Timken bearings and Moog joints on the way.

The Timken bearings I ordered are actual Timkens made in Korea. For my 89 Si the Timkens were Koyo or NTN, either way still a high quality. TIMKEN510015

Both good choices. I was impressed with the quality of the moog myself.

I worked on the sedan yesterday and did a compression test 225-250 across the cylinders. The previous owner sold me the car thinking the engine had a bad gasket or valve stem seals. It was loosing coolant in the reservoir well it ended up being a bad radiator cap. Im going to keep an eye on it just to make sure. Its a 98 civic lx with 98-01 type r with 4.7 final drive lsd and has papers. He spent $4,200 on the whole swap. It's my first Bseries engine so far love it. I've had single cams my whole life.
