The fact you have a gf helping you means you should buy one. Some of my friends sold their nice cars because of their wives/gf/kids. They don't look happy to me. =P
A Falcon business jet encountering severe turbulence somewhere over South America actually had fatalities in the cabin from a few pax heads hitting the cabin ceiling.
"This shows that the widebody was out of its pilots’ control for some 33s, during which time it lost 4,400ft."

I've seen 10,000+fpm (down) but I guess going from level flight to 4,400 lower in 33 seconds, even if the average is 8800fpm, the peak was probably a helluvalot more
edit: Its a good thing the fly-by-wire protected the plane within the approved flight envelope. I'm going to guess the Airbus has a load limit of +3.Xish / -0.0G's. Shoving the stick forward in a fly-by-wire airplane would just tell the airplane to pitch down at a rate that would take it to, but not beyond, its limit (hence the weightless copilot).
Don't do that in a plane with mechanical flight controls! Shove the yoke forward in cruise in our Learjet, and everything would briefly hit the ceiling until the tail, and immediately after the wings, departed the airframe.
"departed the airframe" is fancy engineer for "**** fell off"
edit edit: But I guess that's why we have a real, full-size yoke in the middle of the panel, and not a thrustmaster joystick from best buy bolted to the arm rest and plugged into the panel's USB port as an afterthought because, (unfortunately in the eyes of Airbus) pilots still have to participate in flying.
edit edit edit: I am wine-wasted on the beach in Belize w/ Mrs. Greyout, who was an invited passenger on this trip. It's a tough job but someones gotta do it
edit edit edit edit: I just realized the point I was trying to make above ^ was the whole point of the article I just tried to read.
Sorry. Dinner time, back to the drinking and 'work'

And just saw Vettel crashed today ending Ferrari's test for the day.
Vettel crash ends wet tire test running

Sebastian Vettel suffered a crash during a wet tire test for Pirelli that ended Ferrari’s running on Thursday.
Ferrari was carrying out the wet testing for the tire manufacturer at its Fiorano race track in Italy, with the circuit having been artificially soaked to help develop the 2018 tires. On the opening day of the two-day test, in what were described as “very cold conditions" (about 40 degress Fahrenheit), Vettel went off at the sweeping Turn 8 left-hander heading towards the hairpin at Turn 9, with photos showing the car to head right and hit the barrier on the outside of the track.
The damage caused was sufficient to end Ferrari’s running for the day, with Vettel understood to be unhurt in the incident, which occurred immediately after the lunch break.
"It was a normal accident on an artificially wet track," a Pirelli spokesperson said. "Before the accident, around 40 laps were driven in the morning and very positive data was collected.
Following the incident, Vettel made “no complaints about what he was testing,” the spokesman added.
Pirelli tire testing has been taking place with mule cars, with the Fiorano test using the same car Ferrari provided to carry out the testing of the 2017 tires last year. As a result, there are few spare parts available, and Pirelli is not expecting repairs to be possible to allow running to resume on Friday as originally planned.
Last week, Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari's newest driver Antonio Giovinazzi conducted a test to correlate simulator data with the track. Ferrari's car launch is set for Feb. 24.

I fixed the stream! yay!
Monaco 88 starting right meow. Spoiler: Prost wins and Senna walks home...
Would buy house first, then buy silly Honda car.
When buying silly Honda car, white with red guts is the only way forward.

Murry Walker just said despite the McLarens pushing each other for fastest lap there is no risk for either of them to crash out because they are both so experienced.

Dat MP4/4 doe

Messico!
The fearsome Peraltada
Edit: Observation, it's amazing how the drivers appear to be sitting on the cars instead of in the cars in '88 lol. It's almost Mario Kart esq

Walker isn't that good of an announcer. Nostalgia got people thinking he was better than he was.
That said, he basically willed Senna's crash with the commentator's curse. Whole damn race saying how far ahead Senna was. Lock it up. Done deal. etc etc.
Finally, Prost is a bad ***. I don't think I ever watched him race, but the dude was GOAT for a while there.

Walker just talking about a chap that designed the Arrows A10. Some bloke named Ross Brawn. Wonder whatever became of him. We know Arrows eventually went tango uniform...
I think a lot of people like Murray because he gets excited and tongue tied.
As for Prost, if all he needs is an inch to win, he'll win by an inch. Senna supposedly like to win by the biggest margin possible just so he could demoralize the opposition. (from what I've read about those two).

He's got ya there falcon. And I do have a barn......
