Yep. Maybe a city that doesn't have a whole lot going for it like St Louis or Detroit (please come to Detroit again) but Chicago/New York want nothing to do with this.

I think a lot of track owners would be open to upgrading facilities if Liberty lowered the sanctioning fee to hold an event. As is it's pretty much impossible to turn a profit hosting an F1 event without a government footing a large portion of the bill.

Gill Campbell (MRLS CEO/General Manager) talked about this a lot on Season 1 of Dinner with Racers.

Not sure if it was Road America president George Bruggenthies who said it but the layout would have to be changed at parts of the track to accommodate the required fencing and barriers as well as runoffs for some of the corners and that would cost a few million. Canada Corner and the end of the second straight don't have enough runoff. Permanent garages would also have to be built if F1 was to run there. Nearest big airport and city is probably Milwaukee so logistics might be harder since F1 would be flying in unlike IndyCar teams that can drive their stuff in.

All of these question marks so far are relative to your own previous performance. On top of this you have to consider where you lie relative to the competition.

Have the guys you were racing last year had a better run in the windtunnel over the winter? Have they corrected an obvious packaging problem or a development cul de sac? Has their power unit taken a bigger step than ours? All of these things go through your mind.

Reports are emerging that the GP2 series is set to be rebranded as the FIA’s new Formula 2 championship and complete the governing body’s desired pyramid of progression for young drivers hoping to make it to Formula 1.
Fred's gonna have to yell F2 engine now. Just doesn't sound as eloquent as GP2 engine!

I would guess the end of the front straight probably doesn't have enough runoff as well per current regulations.

Road America is probably a long shot but something like Watkins Glen or Road Atlanta wouldn't be that difficult if Liberty wanted to make it happen. Both of those tracks are already Grade 2 FIA... which is a huge gap to Grade 1 admittedly but if the money is right...

Glen wood be awesome but kinda close to Montreal, not sure if that would turn them off.

Road Atlanta would be great as far as travel access goes but wood it be considered too close to COTA? I can see Liberty wanting to get moar penetration in the upper midwest or somewhere on the west coast.

Atlanta and Austin close?

The obvious answer is at Indy.

I'm thinking of traveling fans. There would be a fair amount of people in between those 2 locations where it would be a similar length drive. That's what I meant by "close" Granted New Orleans isn't the metropolis it once was.

F1, Formula 1 news - Mercedes started 'power unit' design in 2007 - Montezemolo | Nextgen-Auto.com

Luca di Montezemolo says it is no surprise that Mercedes is utterly dominating F1’s current ’power unit’ era.

The former Ferrari president said that while the 1.6 litre, turbo V6 regulations were not introduced until 2014, Mercedes was working on its pacesetting design long before then.

"Niki Lauda recently confessed to me that Mercedes was working on it since 2007," Montezemolo, 69, told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. "That is why they were so adamant during the (rules) negotiations," he claimed.

Montezemolo admits that, in hindsight, it was a mistake for Ferrari - which wields a controversial veto over major decisions - to accept the beginning of the ’power unit’ era.
"I made a mistake, yes," he said."But I felt that I could not put Ferrari in a position antithetical to progress. A fearful Ferrari could not be my Ferrari," Montezemolo insisted.

So this is 99.9% likely a red herring and it wouldn't fit with the Castrol/BP link but the 2 tweets so far by McLaren about the new car have orange and blue featured as the colors. A Gulf McHonda would be cool, doe they wood really need to up their game if they want to flaunt that color combo.

I know a Gulf livery won't happen but I wonder if McLaren is going to have a new sponsor with blue in their logo/colors.

Not worth selling old cars like that. They're worth more than the pennies you'll get for them.

He sold it mainly because he had no use for it and no place to put it. Again, he's not really a car guy so I'm not sure the concept of a vehicle not used for primary transportation wood make sense to him lol.

He gives me looks sometimes when we discuss cars. He and his wife have 2 vehicles. My wife and I have 4 lol.

I've got 2 cars and like 4.5 bikes (for rideable at this instant anyways). I like mobility I guess?

At this point any teg with all body panels the same color and is uneek. At least around here it is.

I've got 3.5 bikes but currently none are in a rideable condition. If this town was moar conducive to bike riding I would get 1 of them working, but people here are crazy. Def anti bike town. Tho I think the biking community is partly to blame. Asses ride 2 or 3 deep on narrow roads and refuse to get single file for traffic. Nor do they obey traffic signals. I had one douche start bitching at me while I was sitting at a red light. He's yelling "bikes are vehicles too and are allowed to use the road" or some such nonsense (I guess he felt I didn't give him enough room when I passed him). He then proceeds to ride through the intersection while the light was still red. I yelled "your just vehicle ran a red light" as I passed him, then gave him the finger lol.
