Do you have pitstops in iracing? Wondering if my suspicions about the entry to the road course portions are correct and coming out of the pits is a cluster ****.
Not really sure I like this. Just go to a proper road course. Not to mention how the F would the pits work. The entrance to the infield portion of the course cuts right across pit lane. Gonna take a lot of work on the infield to incorporate a merging lane.
What they should do is run them in the opposite direction!
A roval like that would really create some interesting setups (until they get some data and figure it out).

Yeah that's the one reason I think it would be interesting to try it out a few times. I still say run the race in 2 parts. Go counter clockwise the first race then clockwise in the second. Of course that would put the fuel filler on the wrong side...
Well that sucks. It sounds like the person was in an area that was off limits to spectators so he could set up his gopro. What a way to start off the new WRC era.
Read somewhere else that the dude had a heart attack? Or was it the fall that killed him?
Apparently there's video but I didn't bother to watch it.
Yeah I am not planning on watching it either. What I read was he was hit by the rear of the car and knocked off a ledge. No idea how hard the hit was or how much of a fall was involved. Feel bad for Paddon. He has to live with this because someone couldn't stay out of a restricted area.

I think it would go to a nearly symmetrical setup. The hairpin onto the oval would put cars onto the oval at a pretty low speed, so they wouldn't have a hard time negotiating that part with a less-than-perfect ovaly setup.
Here's an idea.... 5-10 times per race, you skip the road course and drive the normal oval, kind of like a joker lap in rallycross
edit: aren't nascar cars 4-speed manuals? It would be tough to be geared for both the oval and those tight turns...
I don't think so. Every thing I can find always shows him driving the 24 car. I think the 28 car is one used for historic races. Nissan never raced one with a 28 back in the day, as far as I can tell. Here's a pic of Blundell driving the 24 in anger.

...San Francisco Bay area into nearby interior California Valleys..
The exit region of an intense (110-130 kt) westerly 500 mb jet streak appears likely to gradually spread southward across the region late Sunday into Sunday evening. Associated cooling aloft seems likely to contribute to at least weak boundary layer destabilization in the moist post-frontal onshore flow regime. Although post-frontal low-level wind fields may not be particularly strong, deep layer shear should be. And latest model guidance seems increasingly suggestive that a forced low-topped convective band could spread inland across the San Francisco Bay area, accompanied by the risk for strong wind gusts. Other, more discrete, convective cells could form ahead of this band, across nearby portions of the interior valleys, perhaps with some risk for a brief/weak tornado.
