Plastigauge isn't that expensive, although not sure how often you will need it. I would bet most autoparts stores carry it too.

It's not a matter of the money, it's a matter of the extra set of experienced eyes. It's a motor, and I know I can learn to do it, but it's a motor, and i've never done one. Learn with guidance, not trial by fire in this case.

Thanks for the link Henry. I bought mines from ebay as well but from a private seller from Canada and I paid more. I think I will buy a pair of new and sell my used ones.

I just put a feeler out to my Canadian friend, and he was searching through pick and pulls, told me the green ones weren't as common in his area, in good condition. I didn't pay a premium, and helped out a good dude, so I don't care. I guess i just don't look on eBay for anything anymore. I paid about the same price and got pigtails so that I have wiring, so added bonus.

Let me know, I can come by and lend an extra set of eyes. Things are ramping up quick for my year, especially since I'm double dipping a little bit this spring with NSX. I honestly don't have a good set of mics for doing bearings, I'm lucky enough to be able to borrow from guys who build engines more often than I do. That being said, I wouldn't use Plastigage to size bearings, but it is good for checking your work before final assembly. You can get it at any parts store too, keep red and green on hand.

It varies on the track and the organization. The lowest I paid was $95 and the most has been $205.

I'd do that in a heartbeat if it was $95!
Which tracks are available to hobbyists in CA?
We got none of that fun here

There are several to pick from.

Auto club speed way, buttonwillow, chuckwalla, willow springs which has three track there. I'm sure there are more but those are the once I frequent. All of those are in Socal there is many more in Norcal.

I need to go north and experience laguna seca. But I won't pass the sound decibel test lol

I'd like to drive down south with my sedan and join one of these events. Just to see how well the car can run......if it makes it down the I5.

Some organization actually allow you to rent a car if you don't want to put too much stress on your car.

Once we get the sedan meet settled im sure a few of us will get together and track. You're more than welcome to join us. I think the most 6th gen sedans I seen at the track once was 8-9. That was pretty cool.

Digging them. Dig them more especially because the car sees the track!

With the passing of a good friend, a great guy this new year I've been withdrawn from the forums a but. He was well known in the sedan community. Attending his funeral yesterday I felt led to install my door panels.

RIP Mike AKA Portfl0w, gonna miss you ninja!

Now don't knock me for cleanliness, I never cleaned the OEM panels since I got the car, because my intentions were to install the door panels long ago. I sold the RHD door panels, and awaited these LHD panels.

Then completed for now. I'm too rough with panels so the set dye is proving to be a waste for me. part of the future plan will be to import all plastics etc.

RIP MIKE From us w/ Love!

Dang guys...NICE UPDATES!!!

I spent yesterday in various parking lots swapping parts on my drive from T.O. to Fullerton. Popped a heater hose at Van Nuys & the 101. Managed to get off the freeway prior to pegging the needle. Walked 4 miles to get the hose, swapped it, bled the system, back on the freeway and approached Imperial Highway @ the 5, same thing...F ME!!! Off the freeway, into a parking lot, still haven't pegged the needle. UGH!!! 4 miles from where i needed to be. Topped off with coolant, bled system, and hauled *** to my destination 4 miles away. Long story short, wrong hose. Swapped out the heater bypass hose, and boom, problem solved. At this point I'm cut up, frustrated, and all that but at least she's back on the road, and running great!!

Got a couple other little parts fabbed up while I was in Fullerton, and i'll post some pics when I get them. But here is a taste of what's to come.

Funerals have a bittersweet bright side in that they tend to bring old friends together and reignite thoughts of good times together. I'm glad you guys got together to celebrate Mike's life! I'm disappointed that I never got to meet up with him, we had a couple of conversations on FB over the years and he dropped me a line when I first moved out here, I was just never able make a connection. The couple of times that I traded messages with him outside of here, he seemed like a cool dude.

In other news, I have a random request from you guys. Does anyone have a junky old driver's side headlight around? I finally got around to the retrofit over the weekend (despite being annoyingly sick), only to find the reason I always had trouble adjusting the left one:

The shitty part is that there were no bits in the housings, which means that the tab was broken at the manufacturer and ended up in a box on my front porch anyway. F'ing aftermaket housings...
I tried to make it work with some epoxy and aluminum and it work just long enough to trick me into thinking I'd get away with it. Oh well.

I may just order another from Amazon before I go to bed. We'll see.
