They have a 5k fun run the morning before the race. It's $25 and includes a ticket to the race. You can buy garage access at the track as well if you dont want all the fancy stuff that come with the GRM package.

I think that's all I needed to hear. It's been on the list for a while and it seems like this is going to be an exciting year in multiple classes.
Plan is to fly down on Saturday, spend the night at the track (nap in the car when I get tired), then get a hotel for sunday night. Fly back Monday. Only flaw is if (when) my flight gets delayed but it's supposed to land in Orlando at 10:43 so there is plenty of time to get to Daytona before the green flag.

Yeah, it looks like this trip will cost ~$450 total. Pretty hard to argue.
It's a hoot. The cars are getting better too. When I first went they had the Ferrari 333's and all that cool ****. Then they went boring, now they're good again. Sebring was always the top-tier stuff which was great to see. Not to mention the parties at Sebring were awesome. But Daytona is just so affordable and so damn long. Nice to be having a cup of coffee in the infield at 3 am. Also you can meander into the garages at will basically. Lots of time spent gazing at dudes trying to get a shitbox home.

I wonder who could be Toro Rosso's engine sponsor. Saw on racer and F1 Fanatic that TR wants to brand their Renault power units next season.

Got the Le Mans Blu-ray recently. I haven't watched the movie in its entirety. I just watch the racing scenes with the on- and in-car camera shots.

Gran Prix is an awesome movie too. McQueen was working on an F1 themed movie but was beaten to production by the Gran Prix so he turned to Le Mans instead.
