Due to the counter rotating rotors they are really quiet until they are on top of you.

 

Most of my really good pics and videos taken with camera are on the laptop I take out with me, which I left at work. I'll put em on a stick next time I'm in the office and start posting them up. in the meantime I'll gradually post some of the ones I took with my phone.

So this was taken with my good camera. The plane in the picture is referred to as air attack. They circle the fire and help with spotting fire activity and location. more importantly they serve as air traffic control within the TFR over the fire.

 

Kinda like a FAC(A).

That was taken around 1430 one of the days the smoke settled over the area instead of lifting. Had this happen 2 times for a stretch of about 2.5 days each time. Had extended periods of code purple air quality.

No. Not much you can do about it. People living in the town stared wear particulate masks but they only arrived on the last of the really smokey days.
