The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread
falcong/njn/eddie bby,
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed about the prospect of graduating (eventually), and actually being expected to do real ****. Controller design, machine design, etc. Tell me that it's going to be ok and I'll be expected to be half baked or something once I graduate.
with love,
stressed Esty

Don't worry, the machines do all of the actual work.
I cringe at the amount of knowledge I've forgotten since I graduated in 2010. But then I remember it's all in a textbook somewhere, should I ever need it.
I've had some fun along the way (along w/ a few OH **** moments).

I sure would like some money in my pocket again.

College is to show you have the commitment and intelligence to perform work. Whatever company you go to work for already has a process (that sucks) for how they do business and knows way more about their products than you ever could.
Your first few months at a new company will be very overwhelming as well. I've heard it referred to as "drinking from a firehose" enough times that I want to punch people for repeating it. Just keep your ears open and try to absorb everything you can.
Cancel it and the money you save will pay for tickets to several GPs a year.

We were going over weldments today in my machine design course today. Some gems originating from the peanut gallery.
"I've been around a lot of welders and they've never done these calculations before"
"So why do we need to do this stuff?"
"If you're planning to be a welder there are probably better educational avenues than this class"
I had the Vindicator, which looks like. a Vector.
