94 civic dx - finished mini me and now all kinds of problems HELP
I finished my mini me swap today d15 block z6 head. P28 ECU. Vtec is not wire yet. I fired it up and it sounds awful. Sounds like a wrx which I assume is a misfire. Also the new head gasket is leaking coolant under the intake manifold. I shamefully used an Evergreen gasket. Can you [put a D series HG on wrong? Just wanted some suggestions before I tear it all down again. I think my timing belt may be off by a tooth or two also. I rebuild a z6 dizzy. Could I have put it together wrong to cause the misfire? I used new wires and old plugs. This is my first time putting a head together or doing anything this major to a car and I'm lost. The head was decked by the guy who sold it to me.

I'll pull the codes tomorrow. I thought I did the timing right but after watching some videos I may not have. My motor is missing the entire upper belt covery though. Can I do the cam gear timing without it? I can't see exactly where the coolant is coming from. Are there collant pipes under the I'M I may have missed? There is a tinny bit of coolant that bubbles out between the head and block on the driver side too.
I'll get some pics. The UP on the cam gear is definitely not straight up when the crank is at TDC though
the area circled in red is where I can see the small leak. Again it is a tiny tiny amount of coolant that bubbles out. The main leak appears to be coming from under the IM.

I will check the connecting pipe when I get home. I did change the water pump but I didn't touch the hose. Should I be worried about the tinny bit thats coming from the gasket or is that something that will seal over time?

So the only code in the ecu is 21. Which is vtec spool. It's not hooked up so I knew that was going to happen
so I got the timing alot closer. it's still off a little though. It did bog out after running for a min. I checked the hoses and it looks like its coming from the head gasket under the IM. It's A LOT of coolant. So my only guess is that the head gasket isn't on right. I think my dizzy may be junk too. I was looking at the z6 compared to the stock one and I cant find any difference at all.
ok so I pulled the head and put it back after some cleaning. Im not dumping coolant anymore but I still have a small leak on the side. I went and got a y8 cam gear. I set TDC with the z6 gear pulled it and put the y8 on. did not adjust after that. The block is set to TDC using the notch on the crank gear and the arrow on the oil pump. It still sounds off and the idle jumps. I plugged the hose coming from the fast idle valve since there is no where to go. I then unplugged the fast idle and that stopped it from bouncing. I set the idle screw all the way clock wise and that brought it down a good bit. So again set up is this. d15 block, z6 head and intake manifold, the d15 throttle body.
The first video is before unplugging the fast idle valve and the second is after adjusting idle. The hell is wrong with my car?

ok will do as soon as I get home. another question. Im using the stock throttle body on the z6 IM. The hose that's in the guys hand. where does that go? There is no spot for it on the IM.
Like I said in your other thread I moved to misc tech.
OBD1 head on an OBD1 block requires the OBD1 cam gear.
Z6 head, D15 block, needs Z6 or B7 cam gear to time right.
The 4.75 degrees is the variance in the key way of the obd1 camshaft and the obd2 camshaft.
You only need the Y8/Y7 cam gear if you were putting an OBD2 head on the OBD1 block.
You are a half a tooth off putting the Y8/Y7 cam gear on your Z6 camshaft.

sorry boss, done a ton of these. y8 gear goes to the z6 on a b1/2/7/8 block.

So I've been trying to do a mini me for the last week. I couldn't get it to run and finally gave up and put the b7 head back on. When I pulled the dizzy apart the inside was covered in oil. I cleaned it up and put it back together but now the motor won't fire. Turns over just fine but sounds like timing is 180 out. Could my dizzy be shot? The car is an eg with d15b7. Also I have basically everything to do a Z6 swap for sale including intake manifold for sale if anyone is interested
