FYI, if you have a student email address ALL! of the Autodesk products are free including Inventor (similar to Solidworks), simulation stuff and they are all full versions. Solidwokrs is $100 for the student version alone.

How does solid works compare to fusion360?
I need to learn some of this 3D design for my CNC and not sure what to use. Or how to learn
I can do 2d design decently well

Solidworks is far more powerful than fusion but for the price Fusion is the way to go. I know here at work we pay $1500/yr for a solidworks subscription. You also have to pay $500 to maintain your subscription meaning if you have solidworks for a year and don't resubscribe the following year, it will cost you $500 the next time you want to update your software. However the solidworks licence is perpetual, you pay for it once and have it forever unlike Fusion.

on the cam side, HSMworks (for the basic version) is free and integrates into solidworks and inventor...fusion has its own version.

I dont think the OP is going to share his model

I just want a dummy (all internals/cavities removed) model of the intake, block, head and tranny so i can do fit up in my model. Can you do that if i keep it under wraps?

models attached

nice modeling..

my transmission is not that accurate though.. i will try to measure the correct specs when i get my hands on it.

i will try to make a simple version and a stock intake manifold too

Even though it's 5 years later, that's a pretty neat design.

As an engineer - I can appreciate the amount of time this took.

Great job man.

Do a prelude! hahah....

Getting those sweeps and complex surfaces to line up and blend is HARD work. Especially to get it dimensionally correct!

Hello,

I am looking for the cad 3D model files for these great cad 3D models.
I am trying to 3d print a working model of a B18, K20, or D16 with all working and scaled parts.
I can scale them down to print on my printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Terry

dimensions are accurate because it came from a real civic eg hatch.
i measured the dimensions my self from actual head gaskets, manifold gaskets, etc..
I also have a workshop manual for a 92-95 civic

is there anychance you can do a video on how you were able to replicate these parts on solidworks, I'm learning how to use this on my own time and I would love to do something like this

You can 3D scan it using your phone ; ) used 123catch that Autodesk has in app form.

the problem i had with doing it was that it created too many surfaces so once it came into solidworks it was a HUGE file. Now that my full engine is built up, i may try to rescan and import.
