My stock fuel pump died recently and I replaced it with one of these bad boys:
320lph E85-Compatible High Flow In-Tank Fuel Pumps (Offset Inlet) | AEM

Running a K20A so the stock D16 pump was cutting it fine as it was and definitely not enough for my future 'upgrade plans'.
Anyway, question:
To my understanding - this runs off Fuse #13 which is 7.5amps.
I ran my car for about 2 minutes or so on idle before the car died because the fuse blew up.

After checking the new fuel pump specs:
VOLTAGE SPECS:
Connector Terminal: 6 mm Spade (pos/neg)
Min Voltage Input: 6 volts
Max Voltage Input: 18 volts
Current Draw (40 psi): 12 amps (13.5v)
Current Draw (80 psi): 15 amps (13.5v)
Fuse: 15 amps (13.5v), 20 amps (13.5v) MAX

So curious, should I put a 15A and I should be fine?
I'm worried the wiring on this might be too thin for 15A (or the pumps max 20A) based on the fact the original was only 7.5A?

 

Car info is required. If you have a 96-00 Civic, the dash fuse 13 slot requires a 15A fuse.

92-95 Honda Civic (Originally 1.6 "Luxline", I think thats the EX in USA? 5MT, Leather Interior)

 

The fuel pump fuse for USDM 92-95 Civics is fuse 24 (15A). It's fuse 12 (15A) for Canada Civics.

 

Thanks Ron! Checked fuse 24 and its 15A as you said and its fine.
Whatever is causing the issue is on Fuse 13 - not sure it could be :/
Coincidentally this happened at the same time as the fuel pump replacement - thats why I thought it was the fuel pump fuse.

Don't think so, but I'll double check.
My power mirrors are currently cut too (ends all taped up fine, first thing I checked).
Don't have ABS either, so will look at all those other relay's etc after the rad fan.

 

What exactly is the problem with respect to fuse 13?

 

Well, I'll explain what happened the last time I started the car after installing the new pump:
I started the car, celebrated that my car didnt explode and the new fuel pump worked. Left it running for a while because it had been sitting for some time.
After about what must of been 1-2 minutes, the car just died.
When I go check, fuse 13 lay in pieces on floor of my drivers seat. Whatever it is, I dont think its 'small' to cause a fuse to die like that?

Maybe it was just fuse suicide.

What happened when you installed a new fuse into the #13 slot?

 

Seems like I was wrong about the fuse number, was actually fuse #12!
Just put in a new 15A fuse in 12 (had a 10A in before, maybe this was part of the problem?) and now I'm waiting for my battery to charge because its fallen flat. Will record it in case we get some 'fuse action'
