Default Honda CRX Aerodynamics

Should have posted this up a while ago, but just haven't gotten around to sharing it.

Ever wanted some real scientific data on your car's areodynamics and not just internet forum heresay? I wanted some data for setting up aero for a CRX that being road raced. I found an engineer in Canada that does fliud dynamics research on his favorite imports. I asked if he'd be willing to do the same for the CRX 2nd gen chassis and this is what he made.

Awesome video, and thanks again to Grant and his grad-student for making this. Check out his other videos while you're there.

I'm using AUTODESK cfd for my cfd work, but this would have been way faster (excluding the factor that you have to buy the camera and such, though less precise and more handson). I recall seeing the EK hatch civic also in this series. Fun to watch series anyway

Will he do an analysis on my car??

In it's current configuration, we've spun the turtle 180° so he faces the rear.

How many times has the turtle spun 180 degrees?

With me driving? None, however I came close once at Summit in the rain.

Another driver did manage this doe. Took a bad line over the crest and tried to steer as he came over and the car just swapped ends.

Even after the hit, we were running 2nd and gaining on 1st until we lost a radiator cap and overheated with 30 min remaining.

Actually, I would like to him analyze that. I think that it reduces the low pressure negative effects on the rear.
