Yeah, I bled the ABS pump on the bench prior to reinstalling the unit. There was a small leak where the high pressure hose connects the modulator to the pump. I torqued the bolt down a tad bit tighter, rebled the system, and took the car for a test drive; the pedal is now nice and firm.

 

While I'm waiting to find a reasonably priced JDM tweeter map light, I decided to install a map light pulled from a 1998 Acura Integra sedan. As shown on other threads, the fitment is excellent with the exception of a small portion of the manual sunroof hole not being covered. Does anybody know if the JDM tweeter map light will extend completely past this hole?

I also took the SIR-S wheels out for a cleaning today. I plan on installing these once the tires on my current wheels wear down a bit more... hopefully by the end of summertime.

 

IIRC, my Integra map light covered more of the hole than yours does. There was just a sliver of hole, if that even. Only annoying if you look at it from underneath, not at an angle from regular driving/sitting. My Dad still has this setup in his 92 Si Hatch, I'll see if I can find some pics.

FYI the JDM centre Gathers tweeters cover this area completely.

I was definitely surprised by the size of the hole, but like yours, it's only annoying if you look at it from the side or underneath. From a normal driving angle, it's unnoticeable.

 

So this post has been a long time coming... My "parts car", as it were, is a 1995 Honda Civic SI hatchback. I purchased it four or five years ago for $900 after it had been in a front end collision.






Besides starting it every now and then, the car basically sat for the past five years. I originally planned on rebuilding it, but the cost to repair the body, suspension, and frame damage was just too much for me. Long story short, my dad's Honda Civic VX recently crapped out on him, so we decided to give the SI one last shot at getting repaired. We took it to a local auto repair and body shop that he has been going to since I was born, and they were able to get it back on the road at an affordable price.









The core support and front apron were bent but not to the point of needing replacement. The body shop worked it back into an acceptable position and used seam sealer to cover the imperfections. This saved quite a bit of money and turned out really well!

 

Soooo.... RIP VX?

 

I think he is going to sell the VX to someone that is more motivated to fix it than him. The head gasket finally went out on him after years of neglected maintenance. Plus, it has had cruddy body work done in the past, which is starting to fall apart. It just made far more sense to invest in fixing the SI.

I appreciate the kind words! My computer is down and out for the time being, so I haven't been able to post any updates. As of now, the car is in the body shop getting a little cosmetic work done.

 

The car is still in the shop. The rear dent/scratch/surface rust area has been taken care of. They are re-sealing the rear taillight housing as the seam seal had separated at some point in the past. All dings/dents will be removed. They repaired and are painting the jdm 1-piece spoiler. The shop called today and said the car has been sealed and is ready for the paint booth. Hopefully it will be done next week!

What kind of shape are the hubcabs in? Going to sell them when you mount the rims?

 

The hubcaps are in average shape for their age. I would say probably 6-7/10 range. PM me if you're interested in them, and I'm sure we could work something out!

 

So I have a few small updates:

The car is back from the paint shop, and I am very pleased. In addition to having all the small dings/dents removed, I chose to install new front/rear bumpers, JDM thin side moldings, and a JDM 1-piece long LED rear spoiler. Here is one photo for now (I'll get more later):







I mentioned earlier how the right tail light housing seam seal had split somewhere along the way. The body shop resealed the exterior tail light housing, however, the neglected split seam had resulted in a small water leak that caused corrosion to develop under the interior tail light housing to quarter panel seam seal. I pulled back the old sealer and this is what was found:







I decided to tackle this repair on my own. First, I used a wire wheel to remove all the old sealer and as much of the built up rust as possible. The area was then treated with Por 15 metal prep (supposed to convert the rust and coat the metal with a zinc-rich coating... who knows?). Por 15 rust preventative paint then went over the bare metal (sorry, I forgot to take pictures of this step). Lastly, I covered the Por 15 with a few coats of primer and new seam sealer. Overall, it turned out better than I thought, and I hope that it will extend the life of my rear quarter panels.

This thing looks great. I think I could die happily if I got my hands on something in as good of condition as this thing is.

Soooo, I have a sad update for my dad's car. A large branch from a douglas fir tree recently broke off in my dad's yard and came down directly on his roof. The tree limb impacted diagonally from the driver's side rear to the passenger's side front. The sunroof and driver's side rear window were both shattered. Besides drilling out and welding in a new roof panel, I don't know what options he will have. Any input from you body guys out there? Would it be possible to pull the dents and use body filler? It's a very unfortunate situation...

 

Needs new roof panel. And to have remaining dents pulled and smoothed. And a place to work on it, of course. Insurance will total it. That's not his VX though?? Another Si?

 

Nope, not the VX. It's the SI "parts car" that just had the front end work done like six months ago. If you look closely at the 2nd picture, you can see that the VX (the hatchback with the roof rack) also took some damage. The limb broke the rear spoiler and put a small, baseball sized dent in the car.

 

My ride got hit by a moose (how Canadian). Not the hatch, the blue sedan. So I am in much the same boat.
