Custom Car turbo set up
NO, you do NOT want a t3/t4. that was my entire point. NOT a t3/t4. you want a t28 or a t3. nothing t4 related. lol
t28 BB turbo would be your best bet most likely, but if you're on a budget you'd be better with the super 60 t3 (which as I said before is NOT a t3/t4). as for whether you'd want a .63 or a .48 turbine housing, that depends where you want full boost to start. the .63 will have you above 1psi around 2k rpms and around 8psi at around 3500-3700. the .48 housing will have you above 1psi pretty much just off idle, and at around 8psi around 2k rpms. I never suggest running a setup that'll spool that low though as it majorly lugs the motor and it can become extremely prone to knock even on a decent tune, as the pistons are simply travelling entirely too slow for the burn rate at that high of a load

this should work though

I know your point. I was saying instead of going with a t3 super 60 go with a t3/t4 50 trim

as for that link, I actually did not know that turbonetics now made a super 60 trim full t3. that's pretty cool. If I ever need a replacement turbo for some reason where mine is no longer rebuildable, I'll be buying that for sure in a BB V-band

Still a little pricey though, but probably easier to come by.
genuine original super 60's are getting rarer. when you do find them though, they're usually around $350-$400 professionally fully rebuilt and reconditioned, or like $100 straight up used, and can be rebuilt yourself for around $135 which includes the cost of the rebuild kit, a thread chaser to clean out the rusty holes lol, and having the shaft and wheel professionally balanced.
The used DSM turbos do work fairly well for what you want. I wouldn't worry about internal or external wastegate. If you have to get a shut off plate for your manifold, it's not a big deal.
Thanks for the comparison. Never seen those turbos sidde by side before
not for that engine,no.. They run out of breath faster than ever due to the B16's better cylinder head design.. not only that, but those used DSMs are HARD to rebuild now, because of crappy "cheapo" parts, and those turbos are pretty beat up by the time you get them.. The reason why the DSM guys sell them so cheap is simple... They can't use them anymore either.

You may not want a Garrett dual ball bearing turbo in a car that light built for turns. I have found that there is no in between. I am either in vacuum or @12psi. I can hold the throttle to where I am showing "0" on the boost gauge, another 1/4" of throttle and bam 12 psi and the wastegate is open.

Pretty sweet graph of an evo8 turbo on a stock jdm gsr.Peak tq around 4k and carries all the way to 8k.I don't know much about b16 vs b18c1 heads though so I don't know how well that translates to your setup.

went through Mac and got a GT3251b. Fits great. Now i have to figure out an intercooler solution. The only two things i can think of is running one in the side pod (cant find the right size) or a top mount one. Any suggestions from you guys?
Also what size intercooler (CFM) does this turbo need?

It looks good! I like what you did there with the resonator right after the turbo. Then a good 'ol straight through muffler. Where do you plan on piping in the wastegate?

I would prefer to thermally coat the aluminum but quotes to do that were too high.
