I wonder if there are any other vehicles that might have a longer travel suspension and share enough specs that our CRVs could use those shocks. Have you contacted Rancho, bilstein or skyjacker? They may have something that can be used or an idea of something that with minor mods be used.

Rancho, bilstein, and skyjacker are more American based. I could see maybe the rears being close to something but the fronts are what would make it difficult. If the suspension wasn't civic based I bet I would have a better shot.

What about possibly the RDX or MDX? I know bilstein does or did make some shock for the CRV they may have a solution but I think it would take time the horn with tech to find out.

just did a quick check through our o'reilly page and neither of those would work. the fronts actually bolt to the spindle and the rears have regular shocks and springs not struts

I have bilsteins 4600 hd, but they are direct replacement and therefore the same length as stock.

Hmm. I think I am gonna spend some time as soon as I get this project done and do some spec searching and see what I can find out.

I will post any findings. I could get to it faster if the boss would take off already, he was supposed to do a half day and leave for vacation, should've been gone 2 hours ago.

So far this is what I have come across over my lunch break. It seems that the front is going to be a pain and the limiting factor in a complete set without having to make one from scratch or fab something up.

Bilstein - 858-386-5900 - tech line said that they could find a replacement for the rear by looking at dimensions and specs but the front is what I makes it difficult because of how the bottom of the shock mounts to the car (by using the fork to attach). They also said that enough people emailed in we could get them to look into remaking a set of longer travel shocks for the CRV.

I wonder though if you could cut the "eye" off the bottom of the shocks being used in the front and affix some sort of tab or locking mechanism to keep the shock in place once clamped in.

KYB - 800-592-2677 - Says they don't have anything for the fron because its a strut assy, However, they have a solution for the rear, it has 2.5 more inches of travel which will control the dampening and rebound that is making the ride stiff. The sleeve in the lower mount is a couple of mm wider than the CRV but shouldn't cause an issue. Part #343542

gotcha, i really doubt bilstein would do anything...there really isn't THAT big of a demand for lift struts. i think i will just keep the sand bags in the back until the springs soften up.

With the longer rear shocks it would soften the ride quite a bit by allowing the shock to dampen and rebound like it would on an OEM application. Ride won't be like factory because of the stiffer spring but the shock would be able to do a better job of smoothing it out.

did a couple things to my V this weekend.
bought a password jdm intake off a buddy. no need for exhaust now from the sound of this thing!

also took the license plate panel off and replaced the CRV lettering. little piece of advice when removing it...remove all for screws and then push the black clip out in the middle. for some reason tried to pull it up and over the clip and broke off all 4 mounting bolts lol

took this thing back to my girlfriend's hometown this weekend also and found out it gets the same mileage on the highway as it does in town now, just like everybody else.

Are you talking about the cover or the actual intake manifold? I just left it on, figured it's there for a reason

Its a resonator to help reduce noise from the intake IIRC. If I'm someone please correct me.

found a factory option grille for mine with the chrome surround for cheap today! once i get it, i will get it painted. don't know if i should have it painted all one color, or do the outside body color and leave the inner part black like it would have came from the factory. suggestions? also going to use the night shade red on the taillights and get them all red for a little different look. will be ordering a factory passenger armrest and possible have found the optional rear spoiler. if both are correct, i will be ordering them also next week

i want the oe ones that supposedly bolt right up to our seats. did you get the oe or something else, i was just curious about a pn. i will probably go now and look since im bored out of my mind today.

i checked majestic honda, they dont sell iot so chances are you cant get a new oe replacement. they have everything, even the side bars. they dont even list the part number, a lot of times they will even if its discountinued. post a link of what you get, i need armrests already. i know someone here use one from another honda as well, i need to look that up. i would guess a civic or whatever will fit our seats.

** drivers part number: 81580-S10-A01ZB...its like 130 at the first site i clicked, looks like used is the way to go haha.
