Default build thread

new build thread peoples, ok so this will take some pages to get us caught up to present so for all of you that are familiar with the work done to this car up until now just bare with me

I found the car for sale here on HT back in Dec and drove down to Tennessee to get it in Feb, here it is before I owned it

It did not come with a turbo or that motor in it^
came with a stock D16z6 and a **** ton of problems (don't know if the dude who sold it to me was trying to cut corners to get it together so he could sell it or if he was just retarded) any how I paid $3100 for it
here is how it looked when I bought it

problems...

well first off it came wire tucked, the dude who did the tuck was nice enough to use no oem connectors or solder just wires twisted together and taped and also about half the zip ties needed to actually keep all the wiring up and away from things like feet and/or the front wheels also no rubber grommets were used just holes cut and drilled in the firewall, wires run through them and spray foam sprayed all around them, some wiring problems caused by all of this were but were not limited to
. ignition would not kill engine if parking brake was up
. if you turned the lights on with the ignition off the radio would come on as well
. if you turned the key to accessory the lights would come on
. if the lights were on the car would not start
and so on and so forth in that manner

also the car came with no exhaust just about 2.5' of straight pipe
the wipers didn't work
the dash, center console, seats, basically all the interior came with only about half the bolts in it and all rattled like hell
there was a crappy traction bar WELDED to the car with about two spools of wire for some damn reason
most of the aluminum lug nuts were badly stripped and barely hanging on
the intake tube that came on the car was a soup can with the bottom cut out
and well that's all I can think of right now

first off I fixed all the wiring, then built a intake, and replaced the over flow, cleaned up the bay, shaved and painted the valve cover, got front bumper lights, put in my shifter and ****, installed steering wheel and put some ebay exhaust on it

here is the bay with a temporary intake

new intake, I made it out of an old tube I had laying around, some autozone parts, and a machete

overflow

and other pictures around that time period

front bumper

first I took it down to the core support and painted it red

I cut everything out of the cover

also I had to cut down the foam

and the bumper support

this is how much I cut out of it

here it is all back together, also I had to extend and raise the wires behind it so you couldn't see them through the bumper

side skirts ( off an ek sedan)

the amount of plastic I had to cut off of them to get them to fit

then of course I had these gross holes in the fronts of them

so I made these nifty caps out of the front ends that I cut off

You paid $3100 for that?
It looked rough in the 'before' pics, but I think I liked it before you personalized it =/

I can not comprehend the rust... but it's your style so I guess you did a good job removing the paint from the upper half of the fender. Black bumpers, white body, and rust really not flowing well in my eyes.

Fender mirrors were in Japan until 1981?
Please stick to mirrors that were time-period correct for your car.... or at least paint them.
Chrome is not working at all for that car.
The black triangles where the mirrors should be is making the window look funky.
Black like these is you MUST have the fender mirrors.

most recent I fixed my deck lid because it wouldn't close right

like this

well that was because of this (and the lid itself needing a tweek)

so I gave it some of this (and beat the lid into submission with a rubber mallet)

now it closes perfect, also I tinted my tails red
