Widest wheels/tires on EF hatch?
I have been searching for a while but haven't found much info. I would like to know what the widest wheels i can fit on my car would be< and what i would need to do to accomplish that (like fender rooling, wheel offset). I think i would like to have 215 or 225/50/15s on 15x7 or 15x8 wheels. Vehicle is a 91 si, lowered i think about 1 to 1.5 inches. Thanks.
I am lowered about 1.5-1.6" Front & Rear (Ride height: 32-32.5 cm Front, 32.5 cm Rear)
I have 15x7, +35 Wheels with 215/45/15 Tires.
I previously had 205/50/15 tires and was lowered 1.5-2" Front, 1.5-1.6" Rear. (Ride height: 31-31.5 cm Front, 32-32.5 cm Rear)>
Absolutely no rubbing, with both.
Instead of "guessing/thinking" how low your car actually is, why don't you measure your ride height: Distance from the axle centerline/wheel center vertically straight up to the edge of the fender. Then you can compare with what I posted.

I didn't measure because the car isn't with me right now. It sits on eibach springs which supposedly have a drop of 1.2 inches up front and 1 inch in the back. Are 215-45-15s hard to find at all? Why did you choose 45s instead of 50s?

Get some really sticky tires. The Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 and Toyo Proxes R1R both come in 195/50-15. If you go to 205/50-15, you can get those, as well as the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, Kumho Ecsta XS, and Yokohama Advan Neova AD08. Unless this is for track use, there's no need (and no benefit) for going any wider than that.
I have an H22 in my civic and have ran 195/55 Dunlop Z1's and they did great. I am on 215/45/16 XS's now though.
As nsxtasy said, compound>width. Find the tire you want and get it in the proper size for your car.
dont stickier tires burn up faster?? as in less overall mileage??
I think 225's look sick...all for looks like a Latin lowrider in the mid 90's w/ tires 10ft spread apart!! (I didnt even pay two cents for these coments!)

In general, yes. Tires like the RE-11 and R1R might last you 15K miles, whereas longer-lasting but less sticky summer tires like the Yokohama S.drive might last twice as long, and even less sticky all-season tires might last you three times as long or more. So that is definitely a trade-off. But if you want more grip, you have to get stickier tires; wider tires that aren't that sticky aren't going to grip as well.
