Got these in a sale for about $250. Was told its an old set, before they were etched on the ends.
idk, looks like the exhaust is an old GSR cam to me... thoughts?
Intake...

it seems you gots punked
heres an earlier thread

I also called skunk2 about 2 weeks ago.. dude named "BRIAN" said 'ALL SKUNK2 CAMSHAFTS HAVE ETCHINGS ON THEM NO MATTER WHAT, NO EXCEPTIONS'
yes i also have a set without the etching on them.. the intake has a casting mark half way down the camshaft. On one side it's "M" the other is "2" the exhaust side only has the "M" no "2"
I was told they were skunk2 stage 1 tuners. i had a local shop measure the spec's and they came out with pretty close numbers +/- by .0XX
kinda hard to sell without box + receipt
GLWS.. as i'm just going to keep mines and run them
btw:
OEM cams are steel, skunk2 cams are chilled iron, should be different in color
also if both of them are marked m then chances are they are OEM if one of them is
according to this it seems you got an older 89-91 b16a intake cam and b17 exhaust
http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/temp/VtecCams.htm
check ou tthis page. should be a lesson learned for you unless you can find the guy and stab him with one of the cams

well my intake has the '2' on it... so i want to believe they are different.
There was a definite change in engine sound post-VTEC when i put these ones in. But my VTEC has a strange power loss. it pop, and lose its pull till about 6500...
also mid-range power was lost.
i was thinking the exhaust looked like a B17 as well, but its slightly... just SLIGHTLY different...

Im getting a set of Stage2's with some help of a friend directly at skunk. I'll be picking them up at their shop in Norco, so I'll bring these over and see what they say.
They love finding fake ****.
I'll have to get some kinda written voucher if they are real or not.
They sell easy if they are S1's but they just don't look quite right...

like the dude in the post said
ALL NO EXCEPTION skunk2 cams are marked
and that is a b17 stop lying to urself man
just go and beat the sht out of the dude that sold u those...
skunk2 cam identification
B-Series Stage 1: H01 on intake and exhaust cam
B-Series Stage 2: H08IN on intake and H08EX on exhaust
B-Series Stage 3: S08IN on intake and S10EX on exhaust
B-Series Pro-Series: will have P1+, P2+ or P3+ denoting stages
is there any other stamps besides m and 2
list all the marks you can find on the cams
isnt there a camshaft identification page somewhere?

its funny as ****, the guy keeps trying to defend that they are real.
I'm taking them to Brian over at S2 today, to see what he says.
This is the sellers defense
xtegb16x:
"ARE YOU SERIOUS BRO,
When i bought these cams i noticed a huge difference and also got mad props from bubba at do it dyno, he was suprised on how much HP gain i got over the ITR's."
"BRO i bought those cams straight from skunk 2 fresh in the box in 06, from a shop in riverside called "sub zero".
FYI info i had my car dynoed at shaun church by daniel with ITR cams first and then whent back with these cams, i also got it dynoed at bubbas at do it dyno i made 15 whp over the ITR cams. How are you goin to tell me what they were, back in the day they didnt have markings or etchings to identify cams!!!!
Did you get your car redynoed??? who was your tuner??? did it make less HP? show me the graph...
Take your own advice and LEARN WHAT YOU BUY, BEFORE YOU BUT IT, if you supposebly did research 3 months later lol."

Is he a member on here? if so PM a mod and make a thread in the scammer section. Hope ive guided you in the right direction.

well he might as well got fooled when he bought them without knowing so if hes honestly dont know you cant blame him for it,
and btw, no company would produce products without markings to identify them, how else would they track the sales and get you the right product off the storage shelf.
if all skunk 2 cams were without markings than it would be a total disaster people would buy tuner1 and end up getting pro3 cams that just doesnt make sense...
besides, i never seen an aftermarket company take time to make grooves on the cam to identify, i belive only honda did that to id their own cams for b series.
this is a very reassuring statement lol "also got mad props from bubba at do it dyno!!!!!" you can be assured thay are mad skunk cams dawg

Indeed, I wont file any legidiment complaints until i get the official yay or nay from a Skunk2 customer rep.
I'll video it too haha!

I bought a set of S2S1 cams back in 02 when I had my shop, and ordered them through my Keystone distributor who purchased directly from Skunk and they had no markings etched on the ends of the cams. They were the real deal and came in the sealed boxes etc and performed as expected but I find it odd that Skunk would say ALL their cams were etched when mine clearly weren't.

I got the straight poop from Brian, the customer service executive at Skunk2.
Both of them can't be skunk 2's primarily because these are made of steel, where as S2's are made of chill-cast iron.
You can tell by the fact that the steel ones have a hole drilled in them (for holding the cam still for installing a timing belt) If you tried to do that in iron it would crack the cast.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yfAvpIzyIM
you can also see a difference in the color of the cams, the steel vs iron. Its super obvious in person.
S2 on left__________________'mystery' cam on right

Other tell tail signs are:
S2's are ALWAYS hand engraved on the ends, and
S2's never have rings on the ends of them.
So this mystery is BUSTED.
Exhaust is OEM B17, Intake is 'someones' stage 1/2 because the cam lobe is larger then stock.

Thats im being led to believe too, maybe a BLOX or Crower?
or perhaps the original owner got a set of OEM blanks, and had them reground?
I have photos of the cams when I bought them. Time stamped and GPS marked form my iPhone... and look what i see now. Holes in the sides.

Latitude: 33° 52' 44.4" N
Longitude: 118° 3' 40.2" W
Time Stamp: 23:14:34.20
Date Time: 2010:09:14 21:09:47

haha i did. He said something like "how do I even know those are my cams bro"
Even when I send him the picture above. That CLEARLY show the holes in the shaft.
That picture was taken with my iPhone so its been time & GPS stamped to prove its legit. And he still refuses, says like 'i dont remember any holes'
from his message to me.
What a dick.

In regards to the intake cam, I'm leaning towards a Crower cam. It looks like they use steel in their grinds so thats my guess.
Have you made a scammer thread? PM'd a mod? gone to legal actions with this? you have pretty solid evidence, a small google search brought up his myspace http://www.myspace.com/expo23s
Honestly, OP you should warn others about this scammer.

take him to the civil court and tv show
did you pay tru the paypal?
or used your credit card? file a claim with either if you did.
if you have enough evidence to prove those are the same cams you got from him you can probably start some legal action and make it somewhat public so people would think twice before ripping someone off next time,
you can match the wear marks on that picture and the ones you snapped with the post.
wouldnt the holes be in the same spot if the cams came from same engine?

Damn kid you got too much time on your hands.....
You are making a big deal about nothing!!
Why dont u tell them what u had text me the very next day after you had put them on the car?? and i qoute " thanks bro these cams open up nice they have a very nice top end"
why dont you tell them that you bought these cams exactly 2 months ago and you want to take action now? If these are my cams and somehow u came to me the next day or maybe the next week or even the next 2 weeks i could have refunded you the money back and took them back, but its been 2 damn months for godsakes. i used the 200 dollars on toilet paper by now,
When i bought these cams back in 06 i got them in the box brand new wrapped up and everything, the cams were sitting in a shop for a while and i bought these along with some wack *** INJEN intake i didnt even put the cams on a motor till a few years after at that. the cams put down the power i was expecting i never cared to take them out and do 2 month homework like you did.
lol and really legal action? dude you pretty much got your money back selling the cams that i supposebly lost out on? i would never try n rip anybody off, as a matter of fact i never have.
All i know is that i bought these brand new in the sk2 box's and they performed as expected,
seems like dirtyharryhatch is the one that has the bigger issue lol calm down bro
and btw im not a scammer....

so how can you be sure that you didnt get fake ones in the first place?
i ve known people that worked in the brooklyn basement, making polaroid cameras that were "made in japan"
and how can you be sure that nobody swiped those cams while they were sitting at the shop for that long before you put them in?
unless theres something else in teh story im with the OP.
he might have experienced a placebo effect, yes of course different cams will feel different regardless if they are faster or slower.
i think this should be worked out between you two, maybe a partial refund or something.
since xteg you are now arguing against the hard evidence that the cams he has now are NOT skunk 2 whether you like it or not because they are STEEL. theres no way around it.
but wether thay are the cams you sent him or not i have no comment on that.

They definetly sounded louder. From about 6500rpm-8000
But when Vtec popped there was a loss in power, and everyone who rode in my car said my non vtec power dropped a lot.
I always thought it was 'ohh it just needed some tuning' but now that i KNOW what these cams actualy are, it makes a lot more sense. We'll see how these REAL stage2's feel.
From my rebuild thread on SocalCivic
"VTEC kicks in at 5500, but theres a 2nd surge at 6000. Must have to do with the way the cams are designed. "
"... torque below 5000 is lacking, but 6-7000 has the most ungodly sound."
and these threads have not been modified.
