Bleeding the 5th generation Civic cooling system
I bought a si civic with a d16z6 and turbo, the motor had the heater hose blocked off with a cap, and the line to the heater right above, now i hook up the hose an try my heat and with in 15min its overheating.
why????
why????
Bleeding the cooling system may take 20-30 minutes.
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.
2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.
3) Follow the directions in the diagram below (hint: the bleed bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine):

-----------------------------
So the two heater hoses are disconnected from the firewall and the ends of the hoses are plugged, right? And when you reconnect the hoses to the firewall, the engine overheats, right?
If so, after reconnecting the hoses, did you top off the radiator and reservoir with coolant and then bleed the cooling system of trapped air?

thank you very very much i did not bleed the system but i did add more fluid and then it started to overheat bad and when i opened the cap it was steaming and flying out. only one hose is off at the first spot to the right and has a cap other hose is hooked up.

If you wait maybe 1 or 2 minutes, it's usually cool enough that very little or no coolant comes out. In my experience just hot air escapes.
Sorry to bring this from the dead, but Is it possible to delete the bypass hose going from the coolant pipe to the intake manifold? if not could someone explain to me what it does? thanks
