Metallic "click/pop" noise coming from engine.
like i mentioned before in your other thread, take a wooden broomstick or something like that, poke around and put it up to your ear, if you cant feel it youll be able to hear it at least. have you did this? yeah i know it looks pretty dumb with a wooden broomstick up to your ear, but then again, if you have not figured it out after changing all that stuff, its gotta be soemthing that you have not changed. this is old school mechanic stuff, haha

any news? i cant believe youve done all this work to no avail.
what was the cause of the excess cylinder leakage?
at this point man just stop, go get a stethescope and have a couple different people poke around. i wish i could listen cuz im usually pretty good with noise complaints.
in for updates. boy i hope nothing like this happens to me on my new build. ::eek::

that is funny you mentioned a stethescope, we just upgraded about 3 months ago from our wooden broomstick to a brand new stethescope, haha. dont know why we never bought one before...broomstick has always worked in the past.

Ouch, that really hurts to spend that much time/money and the problem still persists. I commend you for keeping at it, most would be frustrated by now.
it was a free (borrowed head. I have not spent much money yet. oil pump comes off today
So, I am still wondering if you could tell us where the excess leakage was going on the 2 high cyls.

I was JUSTTTTT about to pull my oil pump, because I DO have lower oil pressure than normal... but I found out... I do NOT have the picture OIL Orifice in the head installed. I am going to get on ASAP and try over.
What does this do exactly (the orifice)

and if i had to guess i would assume it has to do with feeding oil to the head(duh me) lol.. probably for vtec... someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Came to find out the VTEC Solenoid was gutted. Thus, with no internals, it was not creating any kind of oil restriction when the oil was pumped through it. Also, the VTEC Solenoid being gutted, the vtec dowels/pins in all of the rocker arms were basically freaking out and sliding back and forth/ side to side and causing the noise I was hearing. They were not staying in place and working correctly. I put my Solenoid off my 00' Civic onto it and HELL YES, the oil pressure was 80Psi like a rock and the noise was gone! Tomorrow I will finishing buttoning it up and once the new injectors arrive, it will be time for a pump gas tune to see what else we can run into.

no, lol, vtec will not engage with a gutted solenoid. no idea how it got gutted, it was given to me that way.
hmm thats very odd wade, but for shitz and giggles im going to swap out my vtec sol before i pull my head off. Oh and your going to love the bosch's. my car idles like stock even down at 650rpm with like 17:1 a/f. not that i kept it there but i had to retune idle but initial startup thats what the a/f was at when i dropped the idle way down and it didnt miss a beat. huge thumbs up to the bosch 1000cc's

Maybe a stalker?
GG on the fix, Wade! I can't imagine how frustraing all that work must have been considering that it was just a solenoid... so easy to replace and you tore the engine down to bits!
ive been following this thred cause im having the same troubles and i believe i saw you in another thred where tony palo was talking about the bosch's.
or im a stalker LOL half way across the united states HAHA ! thats funny

STALKER! It can happen!
...just like KATMAN getting stalked from even outside the country!
The price people pay for becomeing an inta'net supa'sara'!
well, i dont think my noise is related to the solenoid, vtec still works just fine. so i bought the endyn lma's and am going to give that a try. glad you got yours fixed.
