K-Sport Vs. Funtion & Form F2's!!!
I own the superstreet from tein and they are cool for what I use them for, which is street driving.I've used them for about 2 years now on ef sedan, hatchback and crx. and i bought them used at 550. I wouldn't recommend paying over what I did though and I've never taken them to the track.
I also had a set of gc/tokico blues and it sucked! It felt too soft.I'm pretty sure it was the tokico that made it like that.
I had another setup consisting of progress springs with kyb gr2 shocks on a crx with a swap on the street and it rode pretty well. That setup had almost no wheel hop with an open differential.
Also, has anyone using top hats ever had they're upper control arms hit the chassis? I like the idea of top hats but I've always feared those big bumps on our cali streets.

so what did you pay for this setup?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I found my set up used in the Northeast For Sale forum for 350 shipped
As for the UCA's hitting the chassis due to the extended top hats, I have never experienced this. Although my car is only lowered about two inches, I could only see this being a problem if your car is "crushed" causing it to be static at a point too deep in the wheel travel arc. Being that low will alter several key suspension angles.
so...
Get some quality dampers, springs should be stiffer in the rear, Do Not drop it excessively and get an alignment. You wont be disappointed.

Hhmm....I've been searching for a good suspension set up too and reading this thread has my mind set on koni/gc. I was really thinking about blinging F2's or ksport but now Im changing my mind. Good thread but everyone has their choice of whatever they want.
Im in the same boat! I have never bought anything yet, but after reading this thread it looks as though it's no different then anything else. There's a few factors here in deciding:
A. Daily driver?
B. Off raod much?
C. Race car on track or street.
D. Do you care for comfort or performance
E. Reliability (we want it to last)

Yeah tokico blues are stock replacements, stiff spring + soft shocks= bouncy ride

i have been doing a lot of research on this most of this information comes from honda challenge racers
there are two setups for beginners and for the more experienced the hands down choice for both setups where the gc/koni setup and they don't go bellow a 4 inch ride hight
setup 1 good for aggressive street driving, canyons, auto x, occasional track day, and the track beginner
koni yellow sports with ground control top hats or
koni sp3's with ground control top hats
ground controls
400-500lbs front spring rates
500-600lbs rear spring rates
(generally they have a 100Lb difference between them)
stock all around sway bars or a thicker rear can be used too
setup 2 too aggressive for street only for the track
koni yellow sports with race valving and ground control top hats or
koni race shocks (do to the shorten koni body ground control top hats are unnecessary)
ground controls
600-700lbs front spring rates
800-900lbs rear spring rates
no front sway bar
very thick rear sway bar
after all this research there is no doubt that gc/koni combo is the best setup but i'm still torn i can get ksports for 500 with custom springs rates i'm most likely going to spend twice the money and get the gc/koni setup thought from what i hear from a lot of racers i will not be sorry hope this helps some ppl

i have the skunk 2 full coilovers and i like the stiffness not much sag in the rear and not to much body roll on turns but they just dont seem to go low enough for me i have them all the way down and im not even tucked front or rear
What shocks are you on? With Koni's you can just redo the circlip and easily gain another inch or two of drop. With other shocks...you'll have to do a few tricks like lowering the front shocks in the forks and cutting up the rear shocks. Last ditch effort to get slammed, just roll with the springs alone...but I can't imagine the ride quality to be that great

well people i got ksports on my ef and i like them on my ride. i have driven on cheap ebay coil overs and gc/koni kyb and a few others.all im going to say it go for what you can afford an best fit your style of racing. most of us on here own a japaneses car hence y wed use ff ksport d2 and tein. anyone can put a sus on and ef . its a lil more indpeth than that .tires braces traction and evenly weighted cornd play a part in your sus set up. IM NOT SAYIN IM AND EXPERT BUT IF YOU GOING TO TELL THE TRUTH TELL IT ALL.. . SO LIKE A SAID BEFORE PICK WHAT WORKS FOR YOU . NO TWO HONDAS EF EG DC OR EK WILL PERFORM THE SAM. so when picking sus for your ride its tial and error. you can get lots of advise. the its up to you to dicided in what you want or need thats y you drive and honda lol
My buddy just installed some Ksports on his 240sx last week. We put the tires back on, jump in it, test them for about 2-3 hours in various settings and road conditions, came back home, jumped on the internet and ordered some KY/GC's. I really expected better

get PIC or Eibach or at least Koni/GC or a good sleeve over and illuminas.
All of those are many times better than the bottom feeding full coilovers that come out of china and taiwan.
Plus you will be able to replace components instead of buying whole sets.</TD></TR></TABLE>
X2, this thread should be called battle of the bullshit coilovers.

man, i sure am glad, every time i drive my car, that i spent a couple extra bucks and bought konis
and i cant WAIT to have Lee revalve them this winter!
even with the several seasons of HARSH CHICAGO/MIchigan roads, massive potholes, and hour upon hour of track abuse, they are in perfect shape.
i've killed KYB's here, i've killed tokicos, and many friends have killed Teins, and a few Ksports (most dont drive much on them yet..kinda new).. even have a buddy on Apexi N1's... i dislike them compared to my simple sleeve/stock valve koni setup.
the roads here will kill a shock so F'ing FAST it'll blow your mind. konis last. other crap doesnt.
konis are rebuildable/revalveable. all the cars that go through our shop get konis recomended, and most buy them. NEVER had anyone blow one. EVER.
best bang for the buck=koni...because you can slam/bang/race/beat on them forever. a 10 year old koni will outperform a new Ksport in damping, any day.
SOLD ON KONIs FOR LIFE

they used to sell koni/GC kits on both koni and ground control's websites. last time i checked, those are sleeve overs.
