safe turbo psi?

hey, i have a 94 accod dx(f22b2). im planning on get my compression checked out to see if its fine to bost like 8 psi. and then get another f22b2 engine and rebuild it top to bottom. acl bearings,eagle rods,?pistons(dont know which ones yet but keep it at around 9:1 cr),block guard?,arp head bolts,forged vavles,dual valve springs and titianium retainers and a new camshaft. alright so with good tuning how much psi would be safe for a daily driver, im thinking like 20 with good tuning and get me to like 300-350 hp. what do u guys think becuz i dont know much about it but i know the basics.
Well, from what he's saying, he wants a turbo on a daily driver. A 60-trim t3t4 water-to-air intercooled turbocharger running 5psi might be enough, but it depends on where he drives...If its dominated by highway driving, then a turbocharger would be a good choice, but if its dominated by city driving, I'd use a supercharger instead. Superchargers are better at lower rpms, while turbos are better at higher rpms...Turbos rarely work for stop and go traffic because of the so-called "turbo lag", boost won't start usually until around 3,000rpms or so with most turbos. Superchargers are better at lower rpms because they are belt-driven, so you get boost right off the line.

This whole thing is just WRONG. But that doesn't really matter anyways, since 1) no one was talking about superchargers, and 2) there's no supercharger available for his car.

hey, i dont know much about the different turbos so i've been trying to look into them more. my car is my daily driver, but i also wanna race it on the weekends, like at the track or streets, i kno im probably gunna get flamed for this but i wanna race it on the streets. so which turbo would be good for fast spool and capable of 20 psi.

any small as sh-t turbo can spool up fast and go up to 20psi, but it will max out before you can redline.
it's about proper size, too little too big you'll be disappointed.
all the street racing stuff aside, what range do you usually race at?
someone said about supercharger, new design turbo have so little lag, some of the stuff doesn't apply anymore.

alright, ya super charger is out of the question. i usually stay around 3k rpm. but when i race i shift at 5k. i rarely drive in traffic cuz its not a problem where i live. if i rebuild my engine, ill be redlining at like 8k hopefully. so what kind of turbo will be good for daily driving around 3-4k rpm, but also good around 6-8k
hey man wuz up , I have a 94 accord ex with the f22 sohc vtech , and Ihave put almost $9,000 in the engine . I'm pushin 15lbs of boost @ 274whp , and 290ft. lbs. Icould get more boost if I got new bigger injectors , I'm runnin 455cc injectors @ this time. So don't make my mistake get bigger from the start, like 650cc. I don't know alot about internals , I just know what works ,and the dos and don'ts of a build on this engine. everything on my motor is new and the most of it was upgraded. I could not find a camshaft for **** on that motor, so if u no where 1 is please hook a brothur up.

lol i was gunna say the same thing. im only planning on putting around 1200-1500 into the engine internals. as for the camshaft, i've only seen regrinds where you have to supply the camshaft. so can i get some input on what size turbo i should be looking into?
Thats what all my friends say . I wasn't plannin on spending that much , but one thing after another kept comming up broke or old and worn. See I installed the turbo on stock internals and ran on 7psi 4 about 2 weeks . Then the head gasket blew , and it all started from there. It's all good my car is fast as **** , and bullet proof.If this guy can only spend 1200-1500 on this , don't even bother. There's alot more to it than you think.

did u have to like get new parts for the whole engine bay man, cuz $9000 is a lot of money. did you do none of the work also? cuz if u had a shop do all the work then i can believe 9000. im planning on rebuilding the engine with a couple friends like over a period of time so i can learn a lot more.
yes I had a shop do it all $2000 just for labor, and these guys R worth every penny. I've got 7 hours on the dyno @ $100 an hour , so thats $2700 . $900 on port an polished head , 1200 on rods / pistons, 230 on new exedy clutch , new ecu chipped $200 , turbo set up 2000 , fuel rail 140 , injectors 175 (ebay) , timing gear 130, walbro fuel pump 180, valves 230 , 300 on cv axles , 400 on fluidyn radiator, $90 manual boost control, all new seals/gaskets $200. I know I'm forgeting something ,but that right there adds up 2 $9075 thats just the engine bay.I don't even want to get started on the rest of the car,LOL........**** it still needs a piant job.

words of wisdom right here. this man has been through it first hand, I can tell.
to the OP: psi doesn't matter. you can't just say "I want to run 20 psi" and work around it. you need to pick a horsepower goal, and shoot for that.
good luck running 20 psi on pump gas anyhow unless you drop your static compression ratio pretty low.

alright so forget psi. i wanna be at like 300-350 hp. can a f22b stock sleeves handle that kind of power. i know the rest of the engine cant so that's y im rebuilding it.so should i go with turbonetics or garrett. i want to spend around $500-$700 on the turbo itself.i want my car to beat the stock sti's and evo's at the races.
dude 2 get that kind of hp you are going to have to spend alot more money than you think. You might , and I stress MIGHT find a turbo set up used 4 that price. Then you will have to spend about $400 to have it rebuilt. there's no way around it,you've got 2 have the cash for that kind of hp.I would tell u to get an h22a where you get 200hp straight out the box so 2 speak, buy a turbo for that and you should hit 300hp+

i saw garrett t3/t4 turbos for like $600, new. i kno im gunna have to spend another like $2000 for everything else. i wasn't saying that i could find a turbo kit for 500-700, im not stupid. and the h22a is still a possibility but that's gunna b like 2500-3000. im also thinking about putting a h23 head on my f22b. i know that one guy did it and is boosting it fine.
ok , yes you can get those t3/t4's for that price.Garrett has been around for a long time very good brand , just my opinion.I myself am learning more every day with this new motor, motor only has like 3000 miles on it, and its a whole different ball game than NA, obviously.Now I want more power, so I'm lookin into bigger injectors which means alot of money.
