Default help, car has eratic idle, need help badly

I just started my mini-me for the first time. It was an auto to manual and mini-me to a y8. It's idling up and down, I don't want to drive it or move it with the idle like that. It's throwing a ton of codes. I think most of them are o2. I haven't wired in the secondary yet because I want to go to obd1 in a week or two. If you guys could help me out with what you think it is or if you have had this happen to you before when doing a mini-me and what you did to fix it.

Well those ''tons of codes'' need to be pulled.

Sounds like a IACV.

Pull ALL of the codes and get back to us.

I left something out, when it first starts it revs really high, maybe 2500-3000(no tach). If its the iacv should I pull it off and spray it out woth brake clean first? then go from there? I will pull the codes tommarow morning. I have no cat or resinator so I'd be keeping the neighborhood up.

Also check vacuum lines as noted. Any bubbles in your coolant?

we can't fix the problem if we don't know what's wrong.

the system had no coolant so I added some and I was waiting for it to heat up so I could get the air out but that idleing freaked me out so I shut it off before I bled the coolant system. and for the rest of you guys I'm going to double check all of my vacuum lines, grab those codes, and spray out that iacv with brake clean.

Ok, I cleaned out the iacv, I grabbed the cel it was throwing me. It's a 65 which is a secondary o2 sensor circuit fault. I already knew that because I never wired in the secondary o2. I checked all the vacuum hoses. It still revs high on start up, then goes up and down on idle. I put it in reverse to back it out of the garage and even when in gear with the clutch in it does it! But it does drive. just drives and idles like crap

If the cars has tons of codes then it will not run right, you need to fix all those codes and then go from there, you might need to adjust you idle, whith the car running, unplug the IACV and set the idle to about 700 rpm then plug the iacv back in. Hope this helps.

the idle should calm down after it warms up. wire the second 02 and see then.

I unplugged the iacv and the idle calmed down, but the car is running very rough so I'm almost 100 percent that it's the timing. I think that I may have been 1 tooth off when I put the timing belt on. Plus I have an aluiminum crankshaft pulley which doesn't help. It's way lighter so the balancing isn't as good. I've gotta test the iacv with a dvom at work on monday, and I'm gonna fix the timing in about 15 minutes. thanks for all the help

what kind of y8 manifold are u running (auto or manual, 2 or 3 wire IAVC?)

which ECU are running?

if you use a manual p2p ecu, with an auto y8 IM, you will have some idle problems. because of the IAVC differences.....you have to match the IM with the ecu.....at least thats the case with many auto to manual swaps....

I think for some reason it was giving me the code 91 because it was related to the vacuum leak. I'm gonna wait until after I go obd1 before I try to fix any of those codes. The obd1 conversion should clear them all up
