Default Wheel weights falling off!

I remember reading about this before but can't seem to find the topic. I lost a couple of wheel weights at VIR this weekend. What can I use to help keep them on? Thanks.

My temporary solution, racers tape.

thats pretty much the only solution, other than making sure they are put on clean.

Look at the weights before you leave the tire shop. I worked at Discount Tire Direct all summer, and I must say that fitment is not issue number one.

If there is any space between the weight and the lip, it may fall off (especially with hight temps of racing).

Edit: I just realized we're talking about weight tape. Some customers requested to have additional sealant applied on the weights. This probably works pretty well but they may never come off.

remember to check the racers tape. it seems to want to lose its adhesive properties with high heat. reapplication is sometimes needed.

1) Make sure the weight adhesive is flush with the wheel, no gaps/air.
2) Then use some kind of silicone sealant around the edge of the weight to prevent contamination of the adhesive tape.
3) Then duct tape/racers tape on top of that. And change this every once in a while.

Not much after that, except more cooling to your brakes to keep the adhesive from melting.

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get some HVAC Foil Tape. I swear it works great... doesn't rot or melt off like duct tape.

The folks here in Raleigh that do my tires/ wheels (Rockside Tires off Hwy 401) put some sealant under the lip weights before they pound them onto the wheel. It works as I have never lost a weight after they do that. Also, if its a large amount of weight I have them use two weights instead of 1.

I've also used racer's tape to good effect but the foil tape sounds even better!
