Default Wheel Choice

Ok finally, jesus. A friend decided to buy my rice! volk le37 17 inch wheels. So i can get the 5 lug setup to replace my crappy worn out ex stuff. I am going to be using the car ALOT for autox and, hopefully as cash flows in begin hpde and so forth. Anyhoo, for now im looking to setup some stuff for both street and track.

I am looking at tires i can use on both street and track that will preform well. Im also looking at differant wheels besides the stock itr wheels.

I mean if im going to pay for the r wheels, why not spend a little more and get somthing differant that would preform better.

Sizes, offsets, widths. please guys give me your imput. Ive seen some cars on here with 15x8.5 kodiaks. Ive seen others with narrower wheels.

The car i have currently is a 00 civic ex, i will be running the itr factory hubs and trailing arms and brakes with apexi n1 type pro dampers. If a 14 inch wheel fit over the darn r stuff id do it, but i need to get a 15 unless someone knows otherwise.

What wheels do i get, what sized tires? thanks for any assistance. And i am not a rapper so i dont have unlimited funds.

One thing I thought might need to be pointed out is that the first thing you might want to buy is a Rulebook. The ITR suspension sway bumps you into Street Mod which is a high $ class to compete in. In you post you give the impression that you're on a tight budget so I don't think Street Mod would be a wise decision.

Yea. ive been told that also. I allready built the motor quite some time ago before this was in the makings. So i guess im prolly allready focked on the class. Its got a b18c1. So im sure that plays into being a factor as well. I just origionally put it together to be kind of a drag racing machine, and now realized drag racing is for monkeys. I prefer turning the steering wheel. So ive sold alot on the car. Ill stick with what i have as far as powerplant.

So for now ill just stick to autox with it. Further down the road i will into what i can when moneys not so tight. But at least for now i can eliminate the slip and slides i had with the stupid larger wheels and crap tires, along with poop braking.

What do you run on your car Geratol.

Clearly i have alot to learn, and i am willing to listen. So lets just concider im putting the hpde on hold untill funds are sufficient.

Thanks for the patience, like i said im new.

Wheels: 235/45/13 Kumho V700s on 13x7.5 Lenso VPDs.
Brakes: Stock brakes with Endless pads.

This setup is specifically for the class I run in and in a class like SM I would go with something else. There are several other autocrossers on this board who have built some very fast SM Civics.

I don't belileve any of the fast SM Civics have ITR suspension swaps (I could be wrong).

Are those V700's dedicated track/ax tires or do you run them on the street, G?

Rodney does have ITR suspension on his Civic. Rebuilding and using the stock ex stuff would give you the choice of 13, 14, or 15" wheels and will give all the braking power you need at autox speeds. There is a lot of debate about 13" or 15" tires being better on a powerful front drive car. Most of the faster DSP Integras are using the 13" wheels. Just my 2 cents.
