What next?
Alright I'm still kinda new and I'm setting my car up for daily driving and occasional AutoX. (I haven't autox'd yet. I would have if it didn't thunder storm that day.
) So far I have wheels and tires (Falken ziex512 on 16" slips) and GC springs and Koni Yellows. What would be the next step to make it a decent autocrosser? It's a 99 Civic EX coupe.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I definitely need to practice. Except there's really no place that I can do that in my little toilet of a town. I think I might try to get my hands on some better seats before the next event. (some nice Sol seats hopefully). What would I do to practice anyway? Find a road and practice launches or a open parking lot and drive around light posts or what?

I post the following inf another post when someone said they wanted to improve in autocross, I think alot of it should hold true for you.
Here's my secret how I got quick fast because I am a very impatient, and EXTREMLY competitive individual. I weighed all my options... I determined how badly I wanted it... I knew practice was the only way to get faster.
First :
I decided I would autocross every possible weekend I could. I've done almost 30 events in 2002 already. I don't wait 2-3 weeks to run again. I wanna take what I learned today and apply it tomorrow so it becomes burned into my brain.
Second :
I don't drive excessively fast on the streets but I'm always analizing corners and series of corners. Don't worry about going through these corners fast.... Try to go through them without upseting the car... practice left foot braking... Feel what the car is doing a corner.... Smooth inputs all the time... forget lookin' cool and put yer hands at 9 & 3 all the time... you'll do in competition what you practice day to day. bad habits from the street can carry to autocross watch out for them.
More importantly then anything else... have fun otherwise you'll loose sight of why you are doing this!

You need to go to the auto-x with the intent to learn, not the intent to win. Then you take the pressure off of yourself, and concentrate on doing things right, not doing them fast. Once you can do it right, you *will* be fast. Unfortunately, most beginners are too busy trying to muscle the car around the turns, and come out the other end the same way they came in - unskilled.

Forcing your car around a corner will lower your corner exit speed -> increase your time, ask me how i know
Slow down, take the corner at a speed you feel you are comfortable with and take down a mental note on how you car reacted going at that speed. If you feel like you can push it a little more, then by all means go through that corner a bit faster in the next run. But if you find your car flying around the corner out of control -> SLOW DOWN before entering the corner.
Finally, relax and have fun! No need to be worked up for something that was meant to be fun!

Yeah.. you have to hit up the next autocross you can! it is almost the end of the season in IL. It is too bad you live so far out of town.. i will make sure we go to one when we go back to school. the driver is the thing that needs the most improvement!!
