Tech Help: Wiring Ignition Switch/Start Button
Hi gang,
I'm posting in this forum becuase I felt I would have a better response from the road racers than I might in the general tech forum.
I'm in the process of building a D Mod / SPU Civic hatchback. I will be using a custom aluminum dash with some very basic insturments. I have "gutted" all of the wire harnesses - wow there isn't much left. I only have one question and it is related to the ignition switch/start button.
I'll be using the following Longacre panel:

Now to my inquiry. On the stock ingnition switch (key block) there is a very small switch that has two blue/white wires. There is no mention of these wires in the service manual. One wire runs to the ecu. Is this some sort of anti-theft device? Do these wires need to be retained?
thanks in advance

all you really gotta do is run the momentary starter switch to the starter solenoid
and to the ecu. maybe not even to the ecu depending on how you wired it up.

I wired mine myself.. It was pretty easy actually.. I just cut the wires from teh start switch and splced them to the panel! Really easy!!

are you talking about the key in buzzer sensor? in a small little black box thats attuched underneath the ignition assembly.
Nice choice
I still have to use the key in the car though ... damn immobilizer.
