Default Spring sizes?

I do not know much about springs but I see that they come in different sizes such as 6", 7", 8", and so forth. Is there a benefit to having longer or shorter springs? Any helpful input is appreciated.

Not really. The taller the spring the harder to package. I have put a 10in spring under an EF but it requires some creative fabrication. You are better off with a 7 or 8in spring. Sometimes you can find 10in springs cheaper from the circle track guys. I scored a set of 700s, 750s and 800s for less than 100 dollars. But I had to adapt the 10in springs for use on a civic.

Shorter springs are lighter, but have less deflection before they coil bind.

7 and 8 are best for normal usage, with a normal lowering

sixes were too short for me in the front with gc (650lbs)
