The supercharger right there kills ya Street mod is: engine swaps (from same manufacturer - Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus), turbos, superchargers, big brakes, DOT racing tires, engine management systems. The cars have to be registered for the street - be street legal.

This is where the rich boys play Last year someone in a Audi S4 with lots of mods won.

S4 won the Prosolo. M3 won the Nat Champ.

Look for M3's to dominate for the next few years IMO.

& to you, Todd, for knowing your stuff!

I agree, a SM-prepped M3 will be very, very hard to beat. Those cars are amazing stock, I can only imagine what a beast they'd be in SM trim...

I am real interested in seeing Terry Bakers latest SM BMW when he gets finished developing it. It is a 318 with a 3.0L M motor. It is fast now, but when he really gets it dialed in, that thing could fly. It weighs a lot less than the actual M3's. Like in the 2500 lb range.

Turns out we were both right. It didn't occur to me until Todd posted that we were talking about two different events.

I personally think they need to split street mod up more. Like by yearly income or something.

He he. The SM turnout may be good right now, but just wait until that $50K custom machine shows up and starts whooping the class by a few seconds. Then we'll see how good SM turnout is at the national events when 99% of the cars don't have a snowballs chance I. H. of winning.
