Default Safety

As my cage build approaches, I have been trying to gather info and pay attention to what can be learned ( like dirty19 padding comment on the race interior thread). Anyway, I came across this and thought it was worthy to post.

The front end on those stangs is pretty long and has alot more steel than our cars. I wonder how one of our cars would of handled that event.

Whooooaaa I have seen that guy at BW before.
Very lucky to be here. When the car goes Dukes of Hazzard like that there isnt much that can be done. He was along for the hard ride.
Glad he was able to walk away!
Padding on that cage isnt the best to be using.
Kind of makes me wonder how he passed tech with that cheap stuff.
All the inspectors I have ever dealt with make us use the sfi rated padding.
Car held up well considering what a ride that was.
He did his due dilligence to make sure his car was safe.

I dont think there was enough time/ real estate to completely lift while he was out of control.
Keeping the car straight was the key to not digging it in and rolling it.

It could of been worse but for what he had to work with and the lack of space, it was a good outcome.

They talk about seat mount and brace and it makes you wonder about so many seat/belt installs done and how they might hold up if tested. I just had a guy show me how my sparco seat is a metal frame with virtually no padding and no give/flex. I sat in his sparco pro adv.....so much more quality construction.

I am ordering my HANS tonight. Imagining that guys accident without HANS is crazy.

Go try on the hans unless you already have tried them on.
You want to make sure the size you get feels comfortable.

I was on the track that day, for those that haven't been to willow the wind blows really strong up there and we had a tail wind coming out of 6 and when you get to turn 8 , where the mustang went off the wind is blowing from right to left really hard blowing all kind of dust on the track. Where the flag station on 8 is you get that effect like when you pass a semi on the road and the wind is blowing sideways you get that vacumm . I felt it everytime . The aix was going way faster than the Hondas too.
