Rollin
What are the chances? I don't know how to prevent it from happening. I really don't think I have to worry. I'm in a lowered 96 hatch. Don't flame this post of Noob crap either. I need to know how/why/ if this can happen while autocrossing. thanks
From the title it looks like he means what are the chances of rolling his car. Um, don't run R-compounds until you know how to drive is the only advice I can offer about preventing rollover during autocross. Then again, I have never personally seen a car on 2 wheels at an event, and the only event I attended that had a rollover was a "autocross" run on a road race track with certain sections altered with pylons. What are you using suspension and tirewise right now? What kind of events are you running?

Just from what I've heard, the combination of old busted shocks and sticky tires is a bad idea. Especially if the car has a high center of gravety. Doesn't sound like you have that problem.
In an auto-x on a parking lot, your chances are pretty low. If you go to fast autocrosses (high 3rd gear +) then I think your chances will increase. Just be careful and drive within your limits and abilities, and you should have to worry about it.
Good question though.
Thinking back on 30+ years of watching racing, I'd have to say that most rollovers I have seen involved either getting launched through contact with another car, or getting off the racing surface and snagging a wheel on something(soft dirt, berm, curb, gator, etc.), or a combination of both. This shouldn't generally be an issue in Autox.
In Auto-x the more likely (but still remote) possibility is that you might lose control and go off course enough to hit something. You should understand that it's possible you might dent your car, but don't worry about it all that much. I notice that the fastest guys are always in control.

Good deal then. I didn't quite know if that could happen. My suspension is just 4" adj on stock shocks. But it handles well. Thanks for the information guys. I've always feared rolling, oh well. I had an very near roll in a previous car, it went up on 2 wheels. Maybe that was it. haha oh well. thanks

I'm only providing the following photographic evidence because knowledge is power.
Saturn @ nat's:

GTI @ local:

Long story short? It can happen, but only under VERY extreme circumstances involving high tire grip, low mechanical/transitional grip, high center of gravity, and extreme driving skill/error. Therefore, I wouldn't worry about it.

93 SE-R that used to 3-wheel at autoXes with stock suspension but now stays planted due to real suspension... see for yourself here

Those are some mean nasty rolling. I didn't fear it to much. But I didn't know anything about it. I feel more comfortable racing this weekend. Thanks for the information
I've never actually done it, but yeah, I'd turn into the direction of the roll, but not alot or you'll dump the car heavily back on all four and maybe launch into a roll the other way!
i assume you turn into the roll to recover?
Say you were on a right hand turn, and lifted up onto your left side. If you turn right, the weight of the car shifts left AGAIN, and you'd roll more.
If you turn left, the weight shifts right, and the car falls back onto it's wheels.
Keep in mind that I've never gotten a car on two wheels, and while what I say makes sense, it's possible that I'm wrong, AND it's also possible that it might change depending on HOW tilted up on two wheels you are.

No. You need to get the bottom of the car out from under the top.
