Default Roll cage question

itd like to make my street car/ auto x car as safe as possible so id like to add some harnesses which in turn means i must add a rollbar. Are theres any rollbars out that would allow me to keep my rear seats?

IMO - Yes and no. It can depend on the car as much as the design of the roll bar/cage. Generally, you will sacrifice the rear seats in cars that are 2 door/2 seat or 2+2 types. I do not recommend the use of removable harness bars and the SCCA and NASA design specs are such that it is not really practical. One can use a bolt-in 4 point bar with the harness bar welded on to it and if need be take it out as needed. Good luck with a solution that works for you.

The question is, "as safe as possible" for what? If you are talking about driving on the street, I tend to believe that anything that you do will likely compromise safety.

Rollcages, harnesses, racing seats, helmets, window nets, and driver gear have evolved to work as a system on the race track. It is a very different environment and a very different set of threats.

A roll bar for auto x really isn't worth it. If you go to a autocross and are worried about safety, you're doing it with the wrong club.

And if you put a roll bar in and keep it in, why keep the back seats in? You won't have a passenger in the rear with a roll bar in anyways.

If you were doing HPDEs, there could be value in a roll bar. (Basically restating what Knestis said)

Keep rear seats in place? Yes.

Use them for humans? No.
