Default Rear Brake Problem

I pulled off the rear wheels, removed the calipers, took old pads off, put new ones into place, and WTF now it doesen't go on the rotor. I then walked into the garage, grabed a "C" clamp in order to compress the "you know," only it would not compress. I removed the reservoir cap, and loosened the nipple behind the caliper(I slipped a hose with brake fluid over the nipple prior to loosening to prevent air from getting into the line)but it still will not compress. What am I doing wrong? Any help is much appriciated. Thanx

Sounds like you have a seized caliper. Get a new one or a rebuilt one.

very likely ... if it is just hard to depress the piston because the C clamp won't fit on it right, try picking up a disc brake spreader from autozone or checker

were you having some kind of problem that made you want to change the pads in the first place?

no, I just bought the car, and wanted to change the brake pads. The rear passenger side brake however would squeel really bad for about the first 5 min of driving and then it would go away.....kinda weird. I will go pick up a spreader and see if that does the trick....thanx for all the help

don't rear brake calipers require that you turn the piston to compress it, rather than force it with a clamp?
