This is discouraging. Check out the specs for this particular size. It says the tire was designed for a rim width of 7.0-8.5 inches, which is much wider than the 6.0 of the ITR's http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsad.gif

The 225/50/15 OTOH is designed for a rim width down to 6.0 inches. Wonder why there's such a difference?

i've noticed that tires w/ taller sidewalls will fit onto narrower wheels. I guess the shorter sidewall doesn't like to be "squeezed" onto a narrow wheel.

yoshi - who's disappointed that 225/45 may not fit stock size wheelshttp://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsad.gif

Acctually I'm a little worried. The Victoracer was so excellent, and every time a manufacturer has "improved" their R-compounds lately they are much worse for slalom and better for track use.

If the 225/45/15 doesn't fit then it will be interesting to see many itr autoxers hoarding the remaining 225/50/15s.

The hoosier 225/45/15 fits on a 15x6 rim, I'm sure the new kumho will too.

Yes, the current Hoosier's fit, but after about 6 runs you need a new pair of fronts http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif Not worth the extra performance IMO when they wear out that quick.

I'm sure it will fit, but will it be the optimum width for the particular tire? Running 225/45/15 on a 6" width rim will make the tire loose some of the contact patch. The effective contact patch might be even smaller than if u use 205 on a 6" width rim. Not only that but to get the correct tire pressure will be impossible to. I used to run 225/50/15 Kumho V700 on a 7" width rim. And it is almost impossible to get correct tire pressure. This is verified with tyre pyrometer. Actually overcooked a pair of front tire in one of the race. now I'm running with 8" width rim and it's better.

I recommends to talk to fellow racers, prefferably more experienced one and ask of his/her experience.

From what I understand, they are not phasing out the Victoracers. At least that is the story roght now.

they are still special order only from tirerack, who doesn't actually have any yet...they told me they had an "unofficial" release date of 7/15 or so...
