Need to Unload Hans Devices...

I've been asked to help a HANS Factory Trained Dealer unload some HANS devices...

The specific model is HANS Model 20 Economy in size medium...

"MODEL 20 - UPRIGHT SEAT

B/C, imo, the price isn't that great. Maybe others are more price conscious that I am but I'd be more confortable buying a relatively expensive piece of equipment like this from the actual manufacturer for a small amount more.

He's an authorized reseller, its no different than buying parts from redshift, or LTB(*), or whomever, verse the manufacturer direct.
Any price off of manufacturer's pricing, especially whne talking about a subsidized price, or a savings on item at commodity pricing is good.
Do you shop around for gas?

(*) I have no experience with either of those particular vendors and mean no ill-will towrds them, they were at the top of my mind when posting...

The above is all IMO of course....

I guess for me it would be different if it were someone I had purchased from before or had some familiarity with but as it is he isn't even the one who's factory authorized. He's trying to help out some unnamed reseller...

Then again, maybe I'm just too careful about who I give my credit card # to https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Christian, who spends more on coffe in a given month than he could save on this "sale" https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

edit:
To answer your question, no I don't shop around for gas... there isn't a big enough savings to be had, imo.

mtm68 07-30-2005 05:37 PM

You make some good points people need to be thinking about... (I can't say much, I don't have the coin to for one right now anyway.)

Ahh, impartial information from a seller of a competing product.

Funny, it seemed to work damn well when I slapped the tirewall at VIR sideways at about 80mph.

If I'm not mistaken, many of the deaths related to head and neck restraint have to do with for/aft acceleration that can cause basal skull fractures. Side restraint and lack thereof is not responsible for basal skull fractures. And depending on how you affix the straps on Hans device, there is an element of side restraint. BTW, I have no affiliation with any safety device manufacturer.

But as it's the most widely used and accepted H&N system it seems that it would probably be a good choice. Also, as it's required by many top tier racing organizations (NASCAR, CART, F1), my concern is that eventually the HANS will be required at a club racing level in SCCA and NASA.

Personally, I don't want to drop the coin on a competitors product only to have it obselecent by a rules change.

While I can appreciate that there is a sizeable investment required to purchase a Hans device, isn't it worth it in the end? I just picked up mine last week (had been using a collar for the last couple years) and can't believe it's taken me so long to do so. We spend so much on tires/wheels/brakes etc. that we sometimes lose sight of the fact that we should be spending some good money on proven safety equipment. I'd rather spend the money now on a Hans or fire bottle or any other safety item than later on hospital bills. Having something like this required at the club level is not such a bad idea since terrible accidents can happen just as easily at this level as at a pro level.
